Getting started
Step
In short
Finishing the tutorial before anything else will save you a lot of confusion later.
When you first load in, the game drops you straight into character creation. After that, a tutorial starts automatically and covers the basics of how to play. Take it all the way to the end — it was added specifically because some players were struggling to figure things out on their own.
- Character creation choose a color and any accessories you want before moving on.
- Lobby once the tutorial is done, look around the lobby, which was recently expanded and now has more cosmetics to browse.

The two roles: Crewmate and Impostor

Every round, players are split between Crewmates and Impostors. Each role demands a completely different approach.

Six of the eight badges come from normal gameplay; the other two depend on running into specific people.
The four play badges and two map badges are yours to chase whenever you want. The meet badges are out of your hands — just keep playing.

You cannot force these encounters, but you can improve your odds by staying active.

Glossary- Crewmate
- The role where your job is to prove to the other players that you are not the Impostor.
- Impostor
- The hidden role that uses sabotage and vents to cause trouble for the Crewmates.
- Sabotage
- An Impostor action that disrupts normal play and throws other players into confusion.
- Vent
- An air duct on the ship that the Impostor can use to move around quickly.
- Skeld
- The name of the ship map in Amon Us, which includes areas like the Kitchen.
- Emergency button
- A button any player can press to call everyone together when something suspicious happens.
- Cosmetics
- Visual items like colors and accessories that change how your character looks without affecting gameplay.

A room holds up to 20 players. The game was updated to raise that limit from the original 15.
Do I have to do the tutorial?
The tutorial starts automatically and was added specifically for players who found the controls confusing.
How do I get the Owner or Admin badges?
You earn them by being in the same match as the game's owner or one of its admins or moderators. Admins join ordinary matches, so your best approach is to keep playing regularly.
