Getting started with the tutorial and first stages

Step
In short Finishing the tutorial and clearing the opening stages sets up your rank progress from the very beginning.

The tutorial is the first thing you should do. It awards the Baby Steps badge and counts toward your rank progression. The early stages — 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, and 2.1 — each have their own badge, so working through them in order is the natural way to build experience before the difficulty climbs.

  1. Complete the tutorial this earns Baby Steps and gets you familiar with placing troops.
  2. Clear stage 1.1 the first real test after the tutorial; the badge description notes you actually beat something, not just got lucky.
  3. Push through 1.2 and 1.3 the story hints things get harder from here.
  4. Reach stage 2.1 this is where the early game ends and the mid-game begins.
  5. Check which rank you have unlocked Adept is the first rank above starter, and it signals the game is starting to trust you with more.

How ranks unlock stronger options

Summary
In short Reaching Expert is a key rank milestone because it opens up more powerful equipment.

Ranks rise as you collect badges. Each rank title comes with its own badge, and the Expert badge explicitly states that reaching it unlocks the bigger guns. Keep earning badges and winning matches to move up the ladder.

  • Adept the first rank you reach after the tutorial phase; you start making real decisions here.
  • Skilled a mid-tier rank that confirms your progress is on track.
  • Expert the rank that unlocks more powerful equipment.
  • Elite a high rank that the badge description frames as making you recognizable.
  • Master the top rank; the badge description suggests there is nothing left to prove after this.
03

Building wins over time

Check
In short Win badges stack up over dozens of matches, so treating each session as one step forward is the right mindset.

There are four win-count badges: 5, 10, 50, and 100 wins. The 100-win badge description calls you a legend, which gives you a sense of how long the grind is.

  • Work toward 5, 10, 50, and 100 wins each has its own badge.
  • Damage badges exist for 1 million, 10 million, and 100 million damage.
  • Master 20 different enemy types to earn the Know Your Enemy badge.
04

Hard-mode challenges and their exact conditions

Warn
In short Each advanced badge has a specific condition, so pick your target before you choose a mode.

These badges are not just about playing well — each one requires you to meet a precise rule.

Worth watching out for
Adaptive Strategist requires you to beat any mode on an Extreme+ difficulty map.
Bad Dreams Don't Scare Me requires a clear on Nightmare difficulty.
Overdrive requires you to finish a mode while mods push the bonus total to at least +150%.
All Nighter requires surviving all 72 waves in a single match.
The Underdogs requires beating a Hard+ mode using only towers ranked B or lower.
05

The Engineer and prototype construction

Tips
In short The Engineer badge asks you to collect every piece before you can build the prototype.

This badge has a crafting condition separate from wins or damage.

Tips worth knowing
  • Collect all required pieces first.
  • Build the prototype once you have everything — that single construction step is what finishes the badge.
