Surviving in Lab-C

Step
In short Learning the map layout and staying with your group are the two habits that keep you alive longest.

Lab-C is the main map and connects several areas together. The game's own description puts it plainly: listen to every sound you hear, because audio is your earliest warning that a monster is nearby. Moving with at least one other player means someone can draw a monster's attention while the rest of the group pushes toward the objective.

  1. Stay grouped one player can act as a distraction while the others complete the objective.
  2. Use doors if a monster chases you through Lab-C or Revamp Lab, closing a door behind you buys real time.
  3. Grab the Cone two cones spawn at the top of the ramp in the right-hand corner, and holding one in front of a charging monster stops it in its tracks.
  4. Keep the Cone if you must put it down, leave it somewhere with few players nearby.

02

Using the Cone

Tips
In short Hold the Cone up and keep rotating to face the monster — that is all it takes to stop a chase.

The Cone works by blocking a monster that runs at you; the monster stops and tries to circle around, so you have to keep turning to face it. With good positioning you can pin a monster in a corner entirely, freeing your teammates to finish objectives.

Tips worth knowing
  • Face the monster with the Cone raised — it will stop moving toward you and start circling instead.
  • Rotate with the monster — if you stop turning, it slips past the Cone.
  • Corner traps are possible — walk a monster into a dead end and hold the Cone there to freeze it for your team.
  • Never drop it carelessly — other players will pick it up immediately.
03

Be The Monster — how the mode works

Summary
In short The monster has four minutes to kill everyone; survivors win by finishing the map's objective before time runs out.

One player is chosen as the monster through RNG via a machine in the lobby. That player receives a syringe; injecting it triggers the transformation, after which the monster cannot move for ten seconds — giving survivors a head start. The map is chosen by player vote from Lab-C, Forest, Revamp Lab, Moon, Surface, and Pools. Each map has a different objective: collecting diamonds, repairing generators, or gathering keys. Survivors win by completing the objective; the monster wins by killing everyone before the four minutes expire. Monsters can also be killed with an RPG.

  • RNG machine selects the monster player; you cannot choose to be the monster directly.
  • Ten-second window use it to spread out or head straight for the objective the moment the round starts.
  • RPG use only shoot the monster, never other survivors.
  • Monster shop location the east side of the map; purchase monsters there with Gold, then equip them at the machine near the Cosmetic Shop.
04

Surviving each monster in Be The Monster

Check
In short Change your tactics based on which monster is in the round, especially when MeatMan is selected.
  • Tweaker has X-ray vision.
  • BlackGooGoo its slime slows you down if it hits you.
  • MeatMan the only monster that kills in a single hit; go solo rather than grouping up, since MeatMan targets clusters.
  • Big Larry disguises itself as a regular survivor using the Mimic ability; if a player's name matches Big Larry and they follow you persistently, run immediately.
  • Two-shot monsters Tweaker, BlackGooGoo, and Big Larry all require two hits to kill.
05

Pools map — keys and water tunnels

Tips
In short Grab keys quickly and use the underwater tunnels as your escape route when the monster closes in.

The Pools map objective is collecting keys. The monster cannot enter the underwater tunnels without getting stuck, making those passages a reliable escape route.

Tips worth knowing
  • Check the shop area — the last key is frequently found there.
  • Use the underwater tunnels — if the monster is chasing you, dive in; it will not follow.
  • Monster players: patrol the keys — move keys and watch the areas where keys spawn to stop survivors from completing the objective.
06

Lil' Bab pets

Step
In short Hatch eggs to get a pet, keep it happy by petting it, and use the Trade-Up Machine to aim for rarer ones.

Lil' Babs are small baboon-ball pets hatched from eggs. When an egg hatches it flashes rainbow colors before settling on a color tied to the pet's rarity. Once you have one, you can hold it, place it on your arm, set it on the ground, or throw it.

  1. Hatch an egg rarity is assigned randomly at the moment of hatching.
  2. Pet it regularly leaving your Lil' Bab alone too long makes it sad; petting brings its mood back up.
  3. Watch its mood near monsters a Lil' Bab becomes visibly sadder when a monster is close.
  4. Use the Trade-Up Machine feed your current pet into it to receive one of higher rarity.
  5. Rarity chances Common 70%, Rare 22%, Epic 6%, Legendary 1.8%, and Mythic 0.2%.
07

Lockdown and 3RR0R

Warn
In short When Lockdown triggers, expect doors, terminals, and surveillance to fail — and 3RR0R to appear.

3RR0R is a monster unique to the Lockdown event in Lab-C. Its arrival causes facility-wide system failures: surveillance goes down, doors malfunction, and terminals stop working. Other monsters such as MeatMan and BlackGooGoo avoid 3RR0R when it manifests.

Worth watching out for
Lockdown is rare but when the facility goes dark expect 3RR0R to follow.
Other monsters retreat MeatMan and BlackGooGoo exhibit avoidance behavior during 3RR0R's appearance.

Common questions

FAQ

How do I buy a monster for Be The Monster?

Head to the MONSTER shop on the east side of the map and spend Gold on the monster you want. After buying it, go to the machine near the Cosmetic Shop to equip it before a round starts.

How do I get a rarer Lil' Bab pet?

Rarity is random every time an egg hatches. If you want to improve what you have, put your current pet into the Trade-Up Machine and it will exchange it for one of higher rarity.

Why did all the doors and screens stop working mid-round?

That is Lockdown — a rare event tied to 3RR0R appearing in Lab-C. While Lockdown is active, surveillance, door controls, and terminals all fail.

How do I tell if Big Larry is using Mimic?

Look for a player whose displayed name matches Big Larry's name — that is the strongest indicator the monster is in disguise. If that player follows you persistently without reason, start running.

What is the Beta Testing Program?

It lets selected players test upcoming updates before they go public and report bugs to the developers. You apply through the official Scary Baboon Discord, and players who reach the Elite Subject rank or above receive an in-game cosmetic.
