Getting your country off the ground

Step
In short Build farms and housing first so you have the money and population to expand everything else.

The game drops you onto an empty plot with nothing built. Farms bring in food, housing brings in population, and population grows your income.

  1. Place farms farms are your first source of food and get resources moving from the very start.
  2. Build housing houses grow your population, and more people means more income and more workers.
  3. Hire workers facilities need workers to run, so keep enough employed to staff what you build.
  4. Once money and population are steady, start investing in factories, power plants, and water networks.

Seven things to keep in balance

Table
In short Letting any one of these seven drop too low will stall your growth or cause problems with your citizens.

Your country runs on seven resources at once. Ignore any of them and your progress slows or stops.

Workersneeded to actually run each facility once it's built.
Populationdetermines how large your country can grow and how much income you earn.
Resourcesproduced by your facilities and can also be traded.
Happinesskeeps your country stable; low happiness causes problems.
Powerfacilities won't operate without enough electricity to go around.
Researchunlocks new technology, new facilities, and new military units.

War, alliances, and territory

Check
In short Military strength matters, but a weak economy will lose you wars even if your army looks impressive on paper.

Once your research is far enough along, you can manufacture vehicles and missiles, send troops through tunnels to the mainland, and fight other nations for control of strategic areas. Up to eight players can be in the same session, so coordinating with allies makes a real difference.

  • A strong economy wins wars, while a strong military protects everything you built.
  • Use tunnels to move troops to the mainland and claim territory beyond your starting plot.
  • Form alliances with other players to combine your forces against stronger opponents.
  • Defend your own cities losing built-up facilities to an attack sets your whole country back.
