How a round works

Step
In short Every round follows the same three-step loop.

Each round begins with both players receiving one squishy dumpling. The Bluffer then makes a statement about theirs — truthful or not, entirely their choice. The Decider listens and chooses whether to trade their dumpling or keep it, based on whether they believe the Bluffer.

  1. Both players receive a squishy dumpling at the start of each round.
  2. Bluffer decides choose to tell the truth or lie about your dumpling; there is no rule forcing either.
  3. Decider chooses Trade or Keep based on whether they believe the Bluffer.
  4. The Decider earns a point for a correct call.

Playing as the Bluffer

Tips
In short Mixing truth and lies unpredictably is harder for the Decider to read than always doing one or the other.

The Bluffer role is entirely about managing what the Decider expects. Falling into a pattern — always lying, always telling the truth — hands the Decider an easy read after just a few rounds.

Tips worth knowing
  • Vary your choices: switching between truth and lies makes your pattern harder to track.
  • Deliver every statement in the same confident tone, whether it is true or false.
  • Pay attention to which of your approaches the Decider has been trusting most, then shift away from it.
  • Avoid repeating the same explanation style back to back.
03

Playing as the Decider

Check
In short Catching contradictions and remembering the Bluffer's habits across rounds are your two strongest tools.

The Decider cannot see the Bluffer's dumpling, so every judgment comes from listening carefully and recalling past rounds. Combining gut feeling with logical checks produces better results than relying on either alone.

  • Check for contradictions in the Bluffer's description.
  • Notice vagueness an explanation that is suspiciously thin or suspiciously detailed can both be red flags.
  • Recall patterns think back to whether this Bluffer has been leaning toward truth or lies recently.
  • Balance instinct and logic.
04

Scoring and winning

Summary

The game runs across multiple rounds, and the player with the higher total score at the end wins. The Decider earns points by correctly judging whether the Bluffer was lying or telling the truth.

  • Points awarded to the Decider for each correct Trade or Keep decision.
  • Win condition highest total score across all rounds takes the match.
  • Bluffer goal deny the Decider points by making every statement equally convincing.

Common questions

FAQ

How many players do you need?

TRADE or Keep is a two-player game played one-on-one.

Does the Bluffer have to lie?

No. The Bluffer can tell the truth or lie freely every round — that freedom is exactly what makes the Decider's job hard.

Who earns points — the Bluffer or the Decider?

The Decider earns points by guessing correctly. The Bluffer's job is to prevent that by making both truth and lies sound equally believable.
