First steps and the tutorial

Step

In short Finishing the tutorial is the fastest way to get gems and get your base running.

When you first load in, a tutorial walks you through the basics. Completing it hands you 50 gems straight away.

Complete the tutorial you earn 50 gems and the Getting Started badge the moment you finish.
Join the official group the game gives you 100 gems just for being a member.
Place your first towers and traps get something on your base before the first wave hits.
Expand your base use the Expander feature to open up more placement space.
Fully upgrade one turret or trap even a single maxed-out defense earns you the Upgraded badge and 10 more gems.

Building a solid base

Check

In short Twenty or more towers and traps, a fully expanded base, and at least one fully upgraded defense will keep you ahead of the enemy waves.

As waves grow harder, the number and quality of your defenses matter more. Check these points regularly to make sure your base is keeping up.

At least 20 towers or traps are placed on your base this is the Builder threshold.
Your base has been expanded at least once without extra space you will run out of room.
A Spike Shooter is somewhere in your layout it is one of the trap options.
Fully upgrade any turret or trap to earn the Upgraded badge and 10 gems.

Boss milestones and gem rewards

Bosses appear at fixed stage milestones. Defeating one earns you a badge and a gem bonus on the spot.

Rebirth and long-term progression

Summary

In short Rebirthing sacrifices your current progress but unlocks Legendary towers, making each run more powerful than the last.

Rebirth resets your progress in exchange for access to stronger content. The game rewards you with gems each time you do it. The Prestige badge requires five rebirths total.

First rebirth　unlocks Legendary towers and earns the Reborn badge plus 25 gems.
Fifth rebirth　earns the Prestige badge plus another 25 gems.
Stage 1000 total　reaching a cumulative stage count of 1000 across all runs earns the Challenger I badge and 25 gems.

Each boss you defeat at stages 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 adds between 20 and 25 gems to your total.
Playing during the 2023 Halloween Event gave 15 gems through the Spooky badge.
