First steps when you spawn
StepVoxels has a quest chain that rewards items for completing tasks like gathering resources and crafting gear, so reading your active quest is the fastest way to know what to do next. Food matters early too — if your health is above 8 points, food cannot restore it, so keeping a small supply on hand before you take damage is smarter than scrambling after.
- Check your quests read the current task so you know what to gather or craft next.
- Grab food from leaves breaking oak leaves can drop apples, birch leaves drop cherries, and jungle leaves drop bananas.
- Cook raw meat when you can cooked patty and cooked sausage each restore 5 health points, far more than raw drops.

Tool and armor tiers
TableBoth tools and armor follow the same five-tier ladder. Every tool tier can be crafted into an axe, pickaxe, shovel, and hoe. Every armor tier can be crafted into a helmet, chestplate, pants, and boots. Leather armor also exists as a separate set outside the five tiers.
| Wooden | weakest tier, crafted from your first logs |
| Stone | next step up |
| Iron | mid-tier; the minimum needed to mine Amethyst |
| Golden | same mining effectiveness as Amethyst but with lower durability |
| Amethyst | strongest and rarest tier for both tools and armor |

- Visit the 3 Towered Arena one tower always contains an Amethyst and a Soul; Souls are required to create portals.
- Search Portal Ruins the chest there can contain Crimson Stones, which are the key material for building a portal to the Underworld.
- Clear the Bastion guarded by spawners, but the third-floor chest always holds a Crimson Spirit, Regenectar, and Amethyst; the hidden first-floor chest always holds hide, an iron sword, sulfur, arrows, and an apple.
- Challenge the Olmec Temple it spawns in the sky with four rooms each containing a spawner; defeating the Olmec Golem reliably drops the Olmec Hammer.
- Enter the Underworld once you have your portal materials, go through and face Tormentor, a multi-phase boss surrounded by Ghouls.
Mining Amethyst
CheckAmethyst is the strongest and rarest ore in the game. It can only be mined with an iron or better pickaxe, and it is the only material alongside Mythril that can mine Crimson Stone. There are several ways to get it beyond just digging.
- Carry an iron pickaxe or better before you go looking wood and stone pickaxes cannot mine Amethyst at all.
- Dig to the very bottom layer of the Overworld that is where Amethyst veins appear.
- Check floating islands Amethyst can also be found on some of them.
- Loot the Bastion's third floor that chest always contains one Amethyst.
- Check the Tormentor shrine beneath the boss spawn point there is a room with a chest on the right side holding one Amethyst.
