Choosing a difficulty before you start

Table
In short Easy Mode is the right starting point, but Amber Alert Mode is where experienced players go to push themselves.

The game offers multiple difficulty levels that change how many nights you play, how tough the inmates are, and how much you earn. Easy Mode runs for 5 nights and keeps the most dangerous inmates rare, so it is a safe place to learn. Amber Alert Mode runs for 50 nights and costs you more in the shop while throwing faster, tougher inmates at you throughout.

Surviving the night — key habits

Tips
In short Good positioning and resource decisions carry you further than any single item.

On Easy Mode, apples sell for roughly half their normal value. The Sunny Days map has an open layout and three ground-floor hiding spots, which gives you real options when a chase starts.

Tips worth knowing
  • Use the open spaces on Sunny Days to break a chase
  • Hiding spots on the first floor of Sunny Days give you a fallback when a chase starts
  • On Easy Mode, apples sell for around half their original value, reducing overall income
  • Inmates can enter through windows
  • The Broadcaster stalks you
  • Peeking around corners before committing to a hallway

Rewards and progression

Summary

The game calculates your Amber and EXP payout based on how many nights you survived and whether you won the match. When an Amber boost is active, your earned Amber is multiplied by 2x through the XP Boost modifier. There is currently one working redeem code tracked by this site — check the code section of this page for the live entry.

Common questions

Easy Mode lasts 5 nights in the current version. It used to run much longer, but the count was brought down to 5 after the Amber Alert 2.0 update.

Can inmates get into any part of the map?

Yes — inmates can now enter through windows, not just doors.

Does the map I play on affect how hard the game is?

The map changes your survival options. Sunny Days has wide open spaces and three first-floor hiding spots you can use when an inmate is close.
