How ability unlocks work

Summary

In short Landing hits on other players is the one thing that drives ability unlocks forward.

There are currently 24 ability movesets in the game, with more planned. You unlock them by fighting other players and gaining hits.

Glossary

Ability: A moveset your character uses to fight — there are over 24 in the game, unlocked by landing hits on opponents.
Arena: The combat area where all player-versus-player matches take place.
Hit: A successful attack that connects with an opponent; accumulating hits is what unlocks new abilities.
Unlock: Gaining access to a new ability moveset by earning enough hits in matches.
PvP: Player versus player — the core format of Ability Arena, where every fight is against another real player.
Alt farming: Using extra accounts to generate hits artificially, which is banned and results in a permanent account ban.

Wins are not the requirement — landing hits on other players is what counts.

What happens if I use multiple accounts to farm hits faster?
