First steps when you join
StepWhen you load in for the first time, nothing is set up for you. Scout the area around you before committing to a location.
- Look around scan your surroundings for food plants and loose materials like wood and stone before doing anything else.
- Start a small shelter use the materials you have gathered to put up a basic structure; it does not need to be big yet.
- Craft a club your first crafted weapon is a Club, which gets you moving along the crafting progression.
Hunger and how to manage it
CheckYour hunger meter falls over time no matter what you are doing. If it hits zero, you die.
- Check your hunger meter regularly, not just when you feel like it.
- Know more than one place to collect food so you are not stuck if one spot runs dry.
Crafting progression
SummaryCrafting moves through distinct eras, each one requiring the materials from the world around you.
- Club the first weapon you can craft, made from basic materials you find right away.
- Bronze Sword the next step up, marking your entry into the Bronze Era.
- Iron Sword a stronger blade that comes after you can source iron.
- Steel Sword the top tier of craftable melee weapons before rebirthing.
- Castle Walls a separate crafting goal focused on defence; building 500 of them is a major achievement.
- Rebirth once you have come far enough, you can rebirth, which resets your progress but lets you climb again.
How rebirthing works
TipsRebirthing is a system you unlock after reaching a certain point in the game. It resets your run but is the path toward the highest-tier milestones.
- Your first rebirth unlocks the Gods And Kings achievement.
- Reaching ten rebirths earns the Demigod achievement.
- One hundred rebirths earns the Immortal achievement.
Kingdoms — joining, building, and attacking
TableA kingdom is a group of players working together under a shared banner. Being in one changes what you can do and what others can do to you.
| Joining a kingdom | you share labour with allies, which speeds up building and material collection. |
| Kingdom of 20+ members | unlocks the We Are Legion achievement. |
| Attacking | you can destroy another kingdom's banner or eliminate their leader for the Kingslayer achievement. |
Combat and PvP
TipsFighting other players and creatures is woven through the whole game.
- Your first kill earns the There Can Be Only One achievement.
- Wild boars can kill you.
- Chickens can be hunted.
- Reaching 25 player kills, then 100, then 1,000 each unlock their own achievements.
- Sinking a ship earns Dead Men Tell No Tales.
- Eliminate a kingdom leader specifically to earn the Kingslayer achievement.
Exploration and secrets
TipsSome of the game's achievements only unlock when you find or interact with specific things in the world.
- Sailing a boat for the first time earns Captain Of Your Own Fate.
- The Moai statue can be spoken to, and doing so earns the Wisdom Of The Ancients achievement.
- A hidden ancient tomb is somewhere on the map — finding it earns the Hidden Tomb achievement.
