About

Overview

Drift Tag is a car game where one player carries a bomb and must tag someone else before the timer hits zero — the driver left holding it when time runs out is eliminated. Rounds keep going until one player survives. This guide covers the core rules, how to handle the bomb on both sides, earning cash, unlocking cars, and tips for getting badges.

Core rules of a round

Summary
In short Every round is a race against the timer — pass the bomb or get blown up.

At the start of each round, one player is given the bomb. That player must drive into another player to tag them and hand it off before the timer reaches zero. Anyone without the bomb is trying to stay away from whoever carries it. When time runs out, the player holding the bomb is eliminated and everyone else advances to the next round. The last driver still in the game wins.

  • Bomb carrier must tag another player before the timer hits zero
  • Other drivers must avoid the bomb carrier for the full countdown
  • Timer reaches zero the carrier is eliminated, not tagged players
  • Next round surviving players continue; rounds repeat until one remains
  • Match start games only begin when four or more players are in the server
  • Winner the single driver left standing at the end

Cash, cars, and cases

Step
In short You earn cash every round regardless of outcome, so cars unlock steadily through normal play.

Cash comes in after every round whether you won or were eliminated, so the currency keeps flowing as long as you keep playing. There are more than twenty cars to unlock as you progress. Cases are another way to get vehicles — opening one can yield rare cars and larger rewards.

  1. Play rounds cash arrives after every round, win or lose.
  2. Spend your accumulated cash to unlock new cars.
  3. Try cases opening one can yield rare vehicles and big rewards.
  4. Complete all quests finishing every quest unlocks the legendary Banana Mobile 5000.
03

Server choice and private servers

Check
In short A low-ping server makes every tag and dodge feel more accurate.

The game's own description calls out that joining a low-ping server improves hitboxes — meaning the collision detection for tagging is more precise when your connection is fast. Private server owners have extra powers that regular players do not.

  • Join a low-ping server lower ping means more accurate hitboxes.
  • Rounds require at least four players in the server before they begin.
  • Private server owners can edit rounds and maps, make announcements, and remove players.
  • Use /report in chat to flag a disruptive player.
04

Badges worth chasing

Tips
In short Several badges push you to sharpen specific skills that also make you a better player overall.

There are thirteen badges in the game, and many of them reward the exact habits that help you win. Cutting it close on the timer is recognized twice — once for passing with under a second left and again for passing with under 0.25 seconds remaining. Winning without crashing, winning five games in a row, and surviving long enough to complete all quests are some of the harder targets to aim for.

Tips worth knowing
  • Pass the bomb with under a second on the clock to earn Just in Time, or push it to under 0.25 seconds for Lightning Reflexes.
  • Win a match without hitting anything to claim Clean Driver.
  • Stack five consecutive wins for Unstoppable.
  • Complete the obby to earn the Platformer badge.
  • Finish every quest to unlock the Banana Mobile 5000 and earn The Completionist badge.
  • Getting airborne while carrying the bomb and exploding mid-air earns Going out with a BANG.
