About

Overview

How a match is structured

Summary
In short Every match splits players into two sides with different win conditions, and your role is locked the moment the game begins.

At the start of each match, the game randomly assigns every player to either the survivor team or the killer role. You cannot switch sides once the round is underway. Up to nine players can be in a single match.

Survivors win by completing all objectives and staying alive until the timer reaches zero
Killer wins by eliminating every survivor before the timer runs out
Role assignment decided randomly at the start, not chosen by the player
Match size one game holds up to nine players
Role lock whichever side you start on is your side for the entire round

Health and safety warning

Warn
In short The game uses flashing lights and loud audio by design, so some players should not play it at all.

Damnation deliberately uses flashing lighting effects and loud sound as part of its horror atmosphere. These are not bugs — they are intentional features present throughout play. If you have epilepsy or sensitivity to flashing lights, the game itself recommends you do not play.

Worth watching out for
Flashing lights appear frequently during play and are a core part of the game's design
Loud audio and sound effects are used throughout the match
Players with epilepsy are advised not to play
