About

Overview

One Block is a survival game where you start on a tiny floating island and grow it one block at a time. You chop trees, mine resources, craft materials, upgrade your power, and unlock new zones until the whole island is complete.

How the game works

Summary
In short Every run follows the same loop: gather resources, craft materials, power up, and unlock the next block.

You begin on a small floating island with just a handful of blocks. Breaking those blocks gives you wood, stone, and other raw resources. You use those resources to craft materials, and crafting materials is what unlocks new blocks and opens new areas of the island. The goal is to unlock every block and complete the entire island.

  • Resource gathering chop trees and mine rocks to collect raw materials
  • Crafting combine resources to make new materials that meet unlock conditions
  • Power upgrades spend resources to chop and mine faster
  • Block unlocks each new material you craft opens another block on the island
  • Zone access clearing enough blocks reveals a new zone to explore

Resources you will collect

Tips
In short Wood comes first and easiest, while metal and later materials only appear as you advance.

The island holds several different resource types, and the ones available to you change as you progress. Early on you will mostly be cutting wood and breaking rocks. Coal and metal appear later and are needed for the more advanced crafting recipes. New resource types keep unlocking as the island grows.

Tips worth knowing
  • Wood is available from the very start and feeds your earliest crafting recipes
  • Rock and coal come from mining and are used alongside wood in mid-game materials
  • Metal is a later-stage resource needed to unlock higher-tier blocks
  • New resource types appear as you reach new zones

Playing with others

Table
In short Co-op is faster than solo, but the game is fully completable either way.

Up to six players can share the same island at once. Everyone gathers resources together, so the crafting queue moves much more quickly in a full group. You can also play alone at your own pace — there is no time limit, so the island will always be there to finish.

Common questions

FAQ

Do I need other players to finish the game?

No. The game is fully playable solo from start to finish. Other players just make resource gathering faster, since everyone on the island contributes to the same pool.

Is there a time limit or a way to fail?

There is no time limit. You can expand the island at whatever pace suits you.
