Iron Soul: Dungeon is an action RPG set on floating islands where you fight dark creatures, gather crystallized ores, and forge your own weapons and armor at an ancient smithy. This guide covers everything from your first run to surviving tough bosses — controls, the crafting loop, weapon choices, and what to do when you get stuck.
In shortGet comfortable with every input before you push past the first dungeon.
Don't skip the tutorial — it's where you pick up the starter weapon and learn the basics. On PC, movement is WASD, Shift dashes, left-click attacks normally, holding left-click delivers a heavy attack, and Q and X fire your weapon skills. Press T to open your inventory and compare gear. Once you've finished the tutorial, your only goal is to clear the easiest dungeon two or three times in a row before moving on.

Repeat the same dungeononly move up in difficulty after you can clear it back-to-back without trouble
In shortRunning the same dungeon until you have enough materials, then forging carefully, is faster than rushing ahead underpowered.
The game's rhythm is a tight cycle: clear dungeon rooms to collect crystallized ores, take those ores to the ancient smithy to forge gear, then check your stats and run the dungeon again. Chasing perfect equipment from the start wastes rare materials. At the smithy, a timing mechanic decides how strong the finished item is — hitting the indicator in the right position earns a Perfect, and more Perfects mean a stronger result. Practice that timing on cheap materials before you spend anything rare.
Gather run the same dungeon to learn which ores drop and in what quantities
Practice timing use low-value materials at the smithy until landing Perfects feels consistent
Check recipes before spending rare ores, confirm what bonus abilities and rune slots the finished piece will have
Advance carefully only step up to the next difficulty once you can clear the current one comfortably

In shortChoose your weapon type based on your confidence with dodge timing, and always read bonus abilities — not just rarity.
Three weapon categories play very differently. Armor pieces of the same name and rarity can still have completely different bonus abilities, so always open your inventory and compare them rather than assuming the higher-rarity item wins. Runes add status effects to your gear, and concentrating on a single status type makes it trigger reliably. Mixing fire and freeze runes cancels their effects out, so stick to one.
Light weapons
easy to move out of after attacking; best choice while you're still learning dodge timing
Heavy weapons
single hits deal more damage but swing slowly; use them once you know enemy patterns well
Staves
let you attack from a safe distance, but check that your stats actually support the build
Armor
compare bonus abilities like max health, crit chance, and cooldown reduction against your weapon type, not just rarity
Runes
stack one status effect across multiple gear slots for consistent procs; never mix fire and freeze
05
Combat habits that keep you alive
Tips
In shortReading enemy wind-ups and dashing sideways rather than straight back cuts the damage you take dramatically.
Enemies telegraph their attacks — a raised arm, a pulled-back weapon, or a glowing floor all signal that a hit is coming. Spamming attacks stops you from seeing those cues. When you're surrounded, move to the edge of the room to funnel enemies into one direction, then hit them with an area skill.
Tips worth knowing
Attack two or three times, then pause to watch for any enemy wind-up before continuing
Dash sideways or diagonally back rather than straight away — you stay close enough to counterattack
Move to a room's edge when surrounded so enemies approach from one side only
Save area skills until enemies are grouped together, not the moment the room starts
When health is low, stop attacking and focus entirely on surviving until you can recover
06
What to check when you keep losing
Check
In shortMost losing streaks come from gear or stat problems, not from the dungeon being too hard for you.
Before blaming the difficulty, run through this list. Boss fights in particular punish players who blow both skills at the opening — without Q or X available, you have no answer when the boss uses a big move. Get into the habit of watching for the opening after a boss's heavy attack, then spending one skill at a time.
Check bonus abilities on your gearrelying on rarity alone can leave you wearing objectively weaker equipment
Check your stat spreadlow health means one heavy boss hit can end a run regardless of your attack power
Check how you're using skills in boss fightsopening with both Q and X immediately leaves you defenseless at the worst moments
Check your runesunplanned combinations, especially fire mixed with freeze, reduce or cancel each other's effect
Check your difficultyforge updated gear at the current level before stepping up, not after

Races, rerolls, and free codes
Tips
In shortDuplicate races aren't wasted — and free codes can top up rerolls and Lucky Tickets without spending Robux.
Your character's race gives passive bonuses to attack, health, or movement. Drawing the same race twice isn't bad luck: duplicates add a star, and races can be upgraded up to three stars that way. A high-star common race can outperform a zero-star rare one. Race Rerolls and Season Lucky Tickets can be earned from codes the developers release periodically. To redeem a code, finish or skip the tutorial, click the icon in the top-right corner of the screen, paste the code into the bar, and confirm. Codes expire and work once per account, so use them as soon as you find them.
Tips worth knowing
Duplicate races raise that race's star level, so don't reroll a race just because you already have it
A three-star lower-rarity race can beat a zero-star higher-rarity race
Codes can reward Race Rerolls and Lucky Tickets for free — redeem them before they expire
The code entry bar is behind the top-right icon and is only accessible after the tutorial
Each code works once per account; using a code on one character uses it up
In shortOnce your gear and stats are stable, the Endless Tower and special caves open up new ways to get stronger.
After you're clearing dungeons comfortably and your crafting loop is running smoothly, two other systems become relevant. The Endless Tower has you fight up through floors and is the main source of Scrolls, which equip like bonus items to improve health, attack, and recovery. Crystal and Rune Caves require Cave Tickets to enter but reward specialist materials you can't easily get elsewhere. Expeditions let you send your pet out for a set time; when it returns it brings back gold and eggs, though the pet can't be used in combat while it's away.
Endless Tower main source of Scrolls that add health, attack, and recovery bonuses
Crystal and Rune Caves entry cost is Cave Tickets; payoff is rare crafting materials
Expeditions pet earns gold and eggs over time while unavailable for combat
Scrolls equippable items gathered primarily from the Tower
Skill Tree lets you specialize toward aggressive, forge-focused, or survival builds

Bonus ability
A randomly assigned secondary stat on a weapon or armor piece, such as health, crit chance, or attack, that varies even between identical items.
Rune
An item slotted into gear that adds a status effect or elemental property; stacking the same type on multiple pieces makes it trigger consistently.

Common questions
FAQ
Which dungeon should I start with?
Begin with the easiest difficulty available. On your first run, don't try to speed through it — watch enemy wind-ups and practice your dash timing instead. Once you can clear it two or three times back-to-back without much trouble, that's your signal to try the next level up.
I cleared a room but the door won't open — what's wrong?
The door stays locked as long as even one enemy is alive. Check behind pillars, below ledges, and in the far corners of the room for stragglers. Kill the last one and the passage opens automatically.
My Q and X skills aren't firing — why?
The most common reason is that the skill is still on cooldown — look for the darkened icon and wait for it to clear. Also make sure you have the correct weapon equipped for the skill you're trying to use.
I drew the same race twice. Did I waste a reroll?
No — duplicates raise that race's star level, up to a maximum of three stars, which strengthens its bonuses. A three-star lower-rarity race can actually outperform a zero-star rare one, so a duplicate draw isn't as bad as it looks.
Can I get far in this game without spending Robux?
Yes — dungeon runs, forging, stat progression, and gear upgrades all work entirely without spending anything. Race rerolls and season items can be accelerated by spending Robux, but free codes regularly hand out Race Rerolls and Lucky Tickets, so check for active codes and use them before they expire.
