Choosing your character and starting out
Step
In short
Pick your character type first, then go straight into customizing your horse before you explore.
When you first load in, the game asks whether you want to play as your Roblox character or enter the world as a horse. After that, you land in the customization screen where you pick your horse's colors and equip any accessories you already have access to. Once you are happy with the look, you are ready to start exploring the kingdom.
- Pick a character type choose between your Roblox avatar and a horse.
- Choose your horse's colors pick any colors you like from the options available to you.
- Equip accessories slot in anything that is already unlocked before you head out.
- Explore the kingdom walk, trot, canter, or gallop around to get familiar with the world.

How horses move

Every movement style is available to all horses, including foals, and none of them are locked behind purchases.
Horses have a full set of movement styles built in from the start, and foals share exactly the same set as adults. Buying a customization gamepass changes how your horse looks but does not add or remove any of these abilities.

Unlocking accessories

Check the unlock conditions for your target accessory before you start collecting, so you gather the right things.
Accessories are unlocked by meeting specific conditions, such as collecting certain colors or gathering particular items. Reading the accessory's description before you begin saves effort. Trading with other players is one way to fill in gaps.
- Read the description of the accessory you want and note every condition listed.
- Compare what you already own against what is needed, and count exactly how many items you are still short.
- If you are stuck on a condition, ask other players in the game.

Getting the most from events

Event items and badges are only available for a limited window, so missing the active period means waiting until the next one.
Horse World runs seasonal events, including Halloween events that have returned every year. Each Halloween event has required players to enter a code and find a secret crypt hangout to earn the event badge. Because each year's event is separate, a badge from one year cannot be earned in a later event. The Hatch 2025 event is a separate official Roblox event that the game also participated in.
Worth watching out for
Event badges from past Halloween events are no longer earnable

Common questions
FAQWhy is a new accessory not unlocking even though I think I have everything?
Go back to the accessory's description and read every condition listed there. A specific color name or item count is easy to misremember. If you are still unsure, asking another player in the game is a reliable way to get a quick answer.
Can I still earn the Halloween event badges from past years?
No. Each year's Halloween event badge was only available during that specific year's event. The 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 badges are each tied to their own event window and cannot be earned outside of it.
Do I need to spend Robux to enjoy the game properly?
Customization gamepasses expand your appearance options but do not unlock movement abilities, since all movement styles are available to every horse including foals.
