About

Overview

Answer or Die is a multiplayer game where every round a question appears on screen and all players type their answer at the same time — the longest answer wins blocks, and blocks keep you above the rising water. This guide covers how rounds work, how to write winning answers, what to spend gems on, and how to push toward Pro Servers.

How a round works

Step
In short Every round follows the same loop: read the question, type the longest valid answer you can, and use the block you earn to stay above the water.

When a round starts, a question appears for all players at the same time and everyone types into the same input box. The player whose answer has the most characters wins the round and earns a block. Blocks stack up beneath your character, lifting you above the water. Any player the rising water touches is knocked out. The last player still standing wins the match.

  1. Longer answer wins the character count of your answer decides your rank for that round.
  2. Collect your block winners receive a block that adds height above the water line.
  3. Avoid the water if the water reaches you before you have enough blocks, you are eliminated.
  4. Last one standing wins surviving all rounds earns you a match win and moves you up the leaderboard.

Writing longer answers

Tips
In short Thinking in detail rather than in single words is the fastest way to out-type everyone else.

The questions are open-ended — things like 'a day of the week', 'a popular fruit', or 'something you find on pizza'. There are no trick answers; the only measure is character count.

Tips worth knowing
  • Read the question all the way through before you start — a wrong answer wastes every character you type.
  • Spell out full words and phrases rather than giving the shortest possible name.
  • Stay on topic — characters that do not relate to the question do not help you win.

Blocks and gems

Table
In short Blocks come from winning rounds for free, while gems are the in-game currency you spend in the shop.

Blocks and gems are the two main in-game resources. They work very differently from each other.

Blocksearned by winning rounds; used to build height above the rising water.
Gemsthe shop currency; spent on pets and other items.
Earning gemsPremium members earn an extra 5 gems per correct answer.
Spending gemspets range from 100 gems for a Cat up to 2,000 gems for a Peacock.
Blocks badge trackthe game tracks blocks at milestones of 1, 10, and 50, so every block counts.

Pets and what they cost

Table
In short Pets are cosmetic companions bought with gems; the cheapest cost 100 gems and the most expensive cost 2,000.

Common questions

FAQ

Do I need to spend Robux to be competitive?

Blocks come purely from winning rounds, and you can reach Pro Servers without buying anything. Paid items like gamepasses and gem packs add cosmetics and conveniences, but they do not change how answers are scored.

How do gems work?

Premium members get an extra 5 gems per answer. Gems are spent on pets in the shop, which range from 100 gems for a Cat to 2,000 gems for a Peacock.

What kinds of questions come up?

Questions are broad and open-ended — for example, naming a planet, a popular fruit, a type of weather, or something you find on pizza. Only the length of your answer is judged.
