Your first minutes in the arena

Step
In short Grinding shapes before fighting players is the safest and fastest way to build early momentum.

When you join a session you spawn as the Basic Tank, a balanced starter with average speed, standard health, and moderate bullet damage. Your first job is not to fight other players — it is to shoot the colorful shapes floating around the field. These shapes are your primary source of XP at the start, and destroying them is far safer than picking fights while your stats are still low. Every time you level up, a menu appears where you choose an upgrade, so pay attention to it each time it pops up.

  1. Start shooting immediately target the shapes and cubes on the field, not other players.
  2. Read the upgrade menu each level-up presents choices, so do not skip past it.
  3. Enter codes early the code panel is on the left side of the screen and rewards are applied instantly, giving you a head start on XP and gems.

Upgrade choices and build styles

Table
In short Committing to one build style early makes your tank noticeably stronger than spreading upgrades evenly across everything.

Every level-up lets you put points into stats like damage, health, speed, and bullet speed. The key rule across all styles is to concentrate, not scatter. Three broad approaches cover most playstyles, and knowing which one you are following makes every upgrade decision easier.

Damage buildraise Bullet Damage and Fire Rate to burn through enemies and shapes quickly.
Speed buildraise Movement Speed to dodge incoming fire and outmaneuver slower tanks.
Defense buildraise health so you can stay in fights longer.

Branching out of the Basic Tank at level 15

Check
In short Level 15 is a hard milestone — holding onto the Basic Tank past that point puts you at a serious disadvantage against specialized classes.

The Basic Tank is designed to carry you through your first 15 levels, nothing more. At that point its stats cannot keep up with the firepower or health pools of evolved classes. Reaching level 15 unlocks five distinct branches, each built around a completely different playstyle. Check that you have done the following before you pick your branch.

  • You have been putting points into at least one stat consistently, not a little into everything.
  • You have a sense of whether you prefer staying at range, ramming, or locking down zones.
  • You know the five branches Scout for speed and sniping, Freezer for slowing enemies, Grinder for close-range ramming, Spammer for overwhelming bullet volume, and Double or Side for multi-barrel coverage.
05

Playing the Spammer branch

Tips
In short The Spammer wins by controlling space with a constant stream of bullets, not by landing precise shots.

The Spammer unlocks at level 15 and trades accuracy for sheer volume. It is one of the strongest classes for holding choke points and shutting down melee builds like the Grinder, because the continuous knockback from its bullet wall keeps close-range attackers at bay. Its high output does make you a visible target. The branch continues to evolve: at level 30 the Quad-Spammer adds multi-directional coverage, at level 45 you can branch into the Hexa-Tank or Splitter to expand the wall further, and level 60 opens endgame classes including the Overlord-Spammer and the Hurricane.

Tips worth knowing
  • Max Fire Rate first — a constant stream of bullets is the whole point of this class.
  • Raise Bullet Speed next so targets cannot simply sidestep the swarm.
  • Put points into Bullet Damage to make the wall hurt, not just annoy.
  • Leave Body Damage alone — you need to keep enemies away, not crash into them.
06

Fighting other players effectively

Tips
In short Picking fair fights is more reliable than raw stats when you are still climbing.

Once you are comfortable farming shapes, shifting focus to player combat is how you collect gems. Gems drop from defeated players and are the currency used to unlock new tanks. The most common mistake is charging into players who are clearly several levels ahead. Check an opponent's level before committing, target someone close to your own, and disengage cleanly when you are outnumbered rather than fighting through it.

Tips worth knowing
  • Check levels before engaging — fighting someone far above you is almost always a loss.
  • Retreat when surrounded — pulling back and recovering beats a pointless death.
  • Collecting gems from defeated players lets you unlock new tanks.
07

Redeeming codes for XP and gems

Step
In short Codes are worth using the moment you load in, because the rewards apply instantly and give you a meaningful early boost.

The game distributes codes that grant large amounts of XP and gems for free. Each code works once per account, and codes expire, so use them as soon as you find them. Spelling matters — a single wrong character or mismatched letter case will cause an error.

  1. Open the panel click the blue checkmark icon on the left side of the screen.
  2. Type carefully match every capital and lowercase letter exactly as the code appears.
  3. Press Redeem the button submits the code and rewards arrive immediately.
  4. Move on a code you have already used cannot be redeemed again on the same account.

Progress without spending Robux

Summary
In short Free-to-play players can reach the vast majority of the game's content through normal play and codes alone.

Gems and XP both accumulate through shape farming and player combat, and codes add meaningful free currency on top of that. Paid options center on cosmetics and progression shortcuts rather than stats that change who wins a fight. Players who put in the time can unlock a large number of the 150-plus tanks without spending anything.

  • XP source shoot shapes and defeat players during normal matches.
  • Gems source collect drops from defeated players and redeem codes.
  • Tank unlocks spend accumulated gems to open new classes over time.
  • Paid options primarily cosmetics and time-saving shortcuts, not combat advantages.

Common questions

FAQ

What should I upgrade first?

In the very early game, put points into either Bullet Damage or Movement Speed rather than spreading them across everything. Once you hit level 15 and pick a branch, follow the priorities that match your chosen class.

How do I get gems without buying them?

Gems drop from other players' tanks when you destroy them, so combat is the main ongoing source. You can also get gems by redeeming codes through the blue checkmark icon on the left side of the screen.

Why does the Grinder have no barrel?

The Grinder is a melee class that removes the barrel entirely and focuses on ramming enemies directly, dealing Body Damage instead of bullet damage. It is one of the five branches available from the Basic Tank at level 15 and represents a completely different playstyle from ranged classes like the Spammer.

Can I get banned for using exploits?

Yes. The game permanently bans accounts caught exploiting, and those bans cannot be appealed.
