The core loop: catch, sell, eat
StepWhen you first load in, grab your rod and cast. Once you land a fish, take it to the Fish Buyer — you can walk it over or simply throw it to them — and collect your cash. Hunger is also a real concern, so eating a fish directly keeps you in the game. Buying bait from the shop opens up more fishing options early on.
- Cast your rod reel in your first fish to get started right away.
- Sell your catch carry the fish to the Fish Buyer or throw it to them to earn currency.
- Eat when hungry fish can be eaten directly to fill your hunger meter.
- Try purchased bait head to the shop and pick up bait to expand what you can catch.
- Inspect and interact caught fish can also be inspected or carried around, not just eaten or sold.

Fishing milestones worth tracking
CheckThe game tracks your total catch count, and major milestones land at 50, 250, and 1,000 fish. The Island 1 Fish Index requires catching every fish species found there. Divine fish sit at the rarest end of the spectrum and take patience to encounter.
- Have you caught at least 50 fish on your way to Seasoned Angler status?
- Have you finished the Island 1 Fish Index?
- Are you still fishing regularly toward the 250-fish and 1,000-fish marks?
- Have you stayed alert for a Divine fish, the rarest catch category in the game?
- Have you tried to down a live caught fish before it escapes into deep water?
Unlocking islands
SummaryThe game has at least three islands, unlocked one after another as you progress.
- Island 1 your starting area; the Fish Index here can be completed before leaving.
- Island 2 unlocked by progressing through Island 1 content.
- Island 3 unlocked after Island 2, with further bosses waiting.
Boss fights and co-op tactics
TipsSix distinct bosses appear across the islands: the Spider Crab, Sun Fish, Pike Fish, Piranha, Sawshark, and Electric Eel. Some bosses must be defeated together in the same server. Coordinating with other players is the clearest path to clearing them all.
- Fighting a boss with at least four contributing players earns a special achievement.
- Defeating a main boss without being downed is its own separate challenge worth aiming for.
- The Sun Fish Boss and Pike Fish Boss can both be defeated in a single server run — plan with your group.
- After beating the Spider Crab, deliver the Crab Body to the Lighthouse Keeper to complete that quest line.
Gear upgrades and the Diamond Rod
TableCurrency comes from selling your catches. The Diamond Rod is the highest-tier rod purchasable in the shop, and buying it marks a major equipment milestone. Bait can also be bought from the shop.
| Fish Buyer | trade fish here for the currency used on all upgrades. |
| Shop bait | purchased bait is available in the shop. |
| Diamond Rod | the top rod available in the shop; buying it earns the Rod Royalty achievement. |
