About

Overview

096 [SCP] is a horror survival game where you try to stay alive while avoiding SCP-096, a monster that hunts anyone who looks at its face. This guide covers the core rule, how to survive each day-night cycle, what to do when the monster finds you, and a few extras that can help you last longer.

The one rule that keeps you alive

Warn
In short Never look at SCP-096's face — through your own eyes or through any camera — or it will immediately come after you.

Everything in this game traces back to a single rule: do not see the monster's face. That applies whether you spot it directly, catch it in a camera feed, or glimpse it in a mirror. The moment you do, SCP-096 starts hunting you, and outrunning it in the open is almost impossible.

Worth watching out for
Looking at the face directly triggers the chase instantly
Camera views and mirrors count the same as direct sight
Once you are being chased, the outdoors gives you almost no chance of escape

What to do at the start of a round

Step
In short Use the daytime window to scout the map and lock in a hiding spot before night arrives.

Daytime is your safest period, and you should spend it moving, not standing still. The goal is to know the map well enough that when night hits, you are already headed somewhere safe rather than scrambling to figure out where to go.

  1. Walk the map find every building, door, and tight corridor you can reach during daylight
  2. Pick a primary hiding spot rooms with lockable doors are strong choices
  3. Choose a backup identify at least one other room you can reach quickly if your first hiding spot is compromised
  4. Watch the time display the game shows you how much daytime remains, so start moving toward your hiding spot before night begins, not after
03

Surviving a night and hiding safely

Tips
In short Stay indoors, keep your camera aimed away from the monster, and do not move unless you have to.

Once night begins, SCP-096 starts stalking the map. Your only job is to wait it out until daytime returns.

Tips worth knowing
  • Get inside a building before night starts — being outdoors when stalking begins puts you in serious danger
  • Point your camera at the floor or at a wall while you wait — this is the easiest way to avoid an accidental face sighting
  • Upper floors are safer than ground level because the monster has more trouble reaching them
  • Stay in one place rather than moving around — movement increases the chance you will walk into the monster's line of sight
  • Watch the time display to know when daytime returns so you know how long to hold your position
04

Escaping when the monster spots you

Step
In short If SCP-096 comes after you, get inside a complex building immediately and use its layout to break away.

Being chased does not have to mean you are finished. The monster is much harder to evade in open space than inside a building, so your first move is always to get indoors.

  1. Run indoors the moment you realize the chase has started do not try to outrun it across open ground
  2. Choose a building with multiple corridors and staircases the more complex the layout, the more options you have
  3. Move in irregular patterns through the building rather than in a straight line
  4. Head to an upper floor or an attic if one is available higher positions are harder for the monster to reach
  5. Once you have broken the chase, move to a different room rather than staying where you are
05

HQ levels and how far you can go

Summary
In short HQ has multiple levels, and reaching each new one is a sign of real progress.

The game tracks how deep into HQ you manage to get. Class D is the first level you can reach, and Level 1 is the next step up. Each new level confirms that your survival skills are improving.

  • Class D level the first milestone inside HQ
  • Level 1 the next level beyond Class D, requiring you to push further
  • Goal reach as high a level as possible across repeated runs
06

Boosts and meet-the-developer badges

Check
In short A few small boosts exist for playing with friends or joining the group, and four badges can be earned by meeting specific players in-game.

None of these change how the core game plays, but they are worth knowing about. The XP boost and Ruby drop increase are the only permanent advantages outside of skill.

  • Friend XP boost having friends in your server raises XP gain by 10 percent for everyone in it
  • Ruby drop rate joining the group and following albiedanoob gives a 10 percent increase to Ruby drops
  • Albie's Badge find albiedanoob in a session and ask them for it
  • Rainbow's Badge find RainbowCandyGlow in a session and ask them for it
  • Jules' Badge find Honeybee_juels in a session and ask them for it
  • Legend's Badge find MythIsTheLegend in a session and ask them for it

Common questions

FAQ

If the monster starts chasing me, is it over?

Not necessarily. Getting inside a building with corridors and stairs gives you a real chance to lose it. Move in irregular paths, head upstairs if you can, and stay calm rather than sprinting in a straight line.

How long do I need to stay hidden at night?

You need to stay hidden until daytime returns. Keep an eye on the in-game time display and hold your position until it shows that night is over.

Does playing with friends change anything?

Yes. Every friend you have in your server adds a 10 percent XP boost for everyone there.
