The basic loop

In short
Every run comes down to throw food, collect money, buy better food, repeat.
When you load in, you already have food and you are standing in an area with animals. Throw your food toward the animals, wait for them to eat it, and collect the money they give you. Take that money straight to the shop and buy better food.
