Your first minutes on Fisherman Island

Step
In short Learn the cast timing, sell your fish regularly, and upgrade your rod before anything else.

You start on Fisherman Island with a Starter Rod in hand. If you like and join the game's group, you can also pick up a free Toy Rod to give yourself a head start.

  1. Learn the cast hold your click to charge power, then release; once your bobber sinks, reel in as fast as you can.
  2. Hit PERFECT stop the bar just before MAX at the white line and your Luck goes up for that cast.
  3. Watch your backpack if it is full, new catches cannot go in; head to the Sell NPC before that happens.

The early-game loop: fish, sell, upgrade

Summary
In short Repeat the fish-sell-upgrade cycle until you can afford a boat, then open up new islands.

The core rhythm of the early game is simple: catch fish, sell them, and spend the coins on better gear. Every rod upgrade raises your Weight limit, which directly unlocks heavier and more valuable fish. Once your coins reach 25,000, buying a boat lets you sail to new islands. The bobber is worth upgrading in parallel because it raises your Luck and mutation chance.

  • Luck Rod (Rare)ใ€€10,000 coins from the Rod Store; jumps your Luck to 130% and Weight to 5,000 kg
  • Bobber upgradeใ€€switching from a basic bobber to a Luck Bait-tier bobber noticeably raises rare fish rates
  • Highfield Boatใ€€costs 25,000 coins and opens up the rest of the map
  • Kohana Volcanoใ€€a fishing area where fish sell for more
  • Pet eggใ€€hatching one gives you a permanent Luck or coin-multiplier buff

Normal quests and their rewards

Table
In short Completing early quests gives you coins and, at Quest 7, a free Lava Rod โ€” worth doing before you buy your next upgrade.

Quests are unlimited and repeating. The first ten follow a fixed track; later tiers scale from hundreds of coins up to 250,000 coins per completion, with occasional rod rewards at the highest tiers.

Four things that raise your Luck

Check
In short Stack Luck from your rod, bobber, weather, and friends together for the best shot at rare fish.

It adds up from several sources at once, and mutations make a fish far more valuable when they do appear.

  • Rod stats every rod lists a Luck percentage; a better rod raises your baseline before anything else is added.
  • Bobber equip the highest-tier bobber you can afford; Aether Bait reaches Luck 260% and is obtainable without Robux.
  • Weather bonus cloudy and rainy conditions add a Luck percentage on top of your gear stats; you can also spend coins at the Weather Machine island to set the server weather yourself.
  • Friend bonus each friend fishing in the same server stacks +10% Luck for everyone.
  • Enchantments attaching Leprechaun II to your rod adds up to +50% Luck; Stormhunter gives +80% Luck specifically during rain.
  • Traveling Merchant this NPC appears at random times and locations and sells temporary Luck buffs like Luck Totems that are not found in regular shops.

Enchanting your rod at Esoteric Depths

Step
In short Riding the elevator at Esoteric Depths and using Enchant Stones at the altar is how you add powerful permanent effects to any rod.

Enchanting is the main way to push a rod beyond its base stats. The altar is underground at Esoteric Depths, reached by paying 400 coins for the elevator. Enchant Stones are rare drops from regular fishing.

  1. Ride the elevator pay 400 coins at Esoteric Depths to descend to the underground altar.
  2. Use an Enchant Stone apply the stone at the altar to add a random enchantment to your rod; stones drop from fishing at roughly 1 in 2,900.
  3. Leprechaun this enchant adds Luck directly to your rod and stacks with every other Luck source.
  4. Mutation Hunter this enchant raises the chance of catching mutated fish.
  5. Stormhunter gives +80% Luck during rainy weather.
06

Earning the top quest rods

Step
In short Ghostfinn Rod, Element Rod, and Diamond Rod cannot be bought โ€” each requires finishing a specific quest chain, and each one unlocks the next.

These three rods sit at the top of what free-to-play progression can reach. You must complete them in order: the Element Rod quest requires you to already own the Ghostfinn Rod, and the Diamond Rod quest requires the Element Rod. Lost Isle requires diving gear to access.

  1. Ghostfinn Rod (Mythic, 610% Luck) complete the Deep Sea Quest at the Sisyphus Statue: catch 300 Rare or Epic fish in the Treasure Room, catch 3 Mythic fish at Sisyphus Statue, catch 1 Secret fish at Sisyphus Statue, and earn 1,000,000 coins.
  2. Element Rod (Secret, 1,111% Luck) with Ghostfinn Rod in hand, complete the Element Quest: catch 1 Secret fish at Ancient Jungle, catch 1 Secret fish at Sacred Temple, and create 3 Transcended Stones.
  3. Diamond Rod (Secret, 1,300% Luck) with Element Rod in hand, complete the Diamond Researcher quest: catch a Secret fish at Coral Reefs, catch a Secret fish at Tropical Grove, bring Lary a Mutated Gemstone Ruby, bring Lary a Lochness Monster, and catch 1,000 fish using PERFECT throws.
  4. Lost Isle access the area is underwater and requires diving gear; hints about how to find it are visible above the sea surface.
07

Unlocking hidden areas

Tips
In short Secret locations like the Ancient Jungle temple and the Lost Isle Treasure Room require specific steps but reward you with top-tier fish and rod materials.

Once your gear is solid, the game opens up through hidden areas that normal play does not show you. Check the Fish Index to confirm which island each rare species lives on before you travel.

Tips worth knowing
  • Collect all four artifacts in Ancient Jungle to unlock its secret temple, where the rarest fish in that region appear.
  • The Lost Isle Treasure Room contains rare rod materials and is required for the Ghostfinn Rod quest.
  • The Sisyphus Statue inside Lost Isle is where the Deep Sea Quest takes place โ€” you need to catch Mythic and Secret fish there.
  • The Weather Machine island lets you pay coins to change the server weather, which is a direct way to trigger cloudy or storm conditions for a Luck bonus.
08

Troubleshooting common problems

Warn
In short Most problems with losing fish or stalling out come down to Weight limit, backpack space, or cast timing.

If fish keep escaping or coins stop coming in, the checks below cover the most common causes.

Worth watching out for
Your rod's Weight limit is too low when a fish is heavier than the limit, the line breaks; upgrade the rod to fix this.
Your backpack is full new fish cannot be stored when the bag is at capacity; sell before going back out.
You are reeling too early pulling before the bobber fully sinks counts as a miss; wait for the dip.
You are not hitting PERFECT stopping the bar at the white line before MAX adds Luck to that cast.
You are fishing on the wrong island rare species only appear on specific islands, so check the Fish Index for the right location.
09

Free-to-play versus Robux items

Table
In short Top-tier rods and bobbers are reachable without Robux; paid items are mainly speed and cosmetic upgrades.

The game is designed so that coin-funded and quest-earned gear can reach the very top of the power curve.

Top rods (free)Ghostfinn, Element, and Diamond Rods are earned through quests using in-game coins and effort
Top rods (Robux)Angelic Rod, Gold Rod, and Hyper Rod cost real money and are not sold in the regular shop

Boats (free)the Highfield Boat covers basic island exploration
Boats (Robux)Hyper Boat and Frozen Boat offer higher speed but are not required to reach any area

Common questions

FAQ

Can I reach the best gear without spending Robux?

Yes. The top-tier rods โ€” Ghostfinn Rod, Element Rod, and Diamond Rod โ€” are all earned through quest chains using in-game effort, and high-end bobbers like Aether Bait are purchasable with coins. Robux items offer convenience and speed but are not required to reach the strongest gear.

Why do I keep losing fish after they bite?

The two most common causes are reeling before the bobber fully sinks, and having a rod whose Weight limit is lower than the fish you hooked. Wait for the full dip before clicking, and upgrade your rod if heavy fish keep snapping the line.

How do I get rare fish to appear more often?

Raise your Luck by upgrading both your rod and bobber, fishing with friends for stacking bonuses, and using cloudy or rainy weather. Adding a Leprechaun enchantment to your rod and picking up a Luck Totem from the Traveling Merchant can push Luck even higher.

How do I reach a new island?

Buy a boat from the boat shop โ€” the Highfield Boat costs 25,000 coins and gives you access to the wider map. Each island has its own exclusive fish species, so unlocking more islands directly expands what you can catch and sell.

What do pets actually do?

Pets hatch from eggs purchased with coins and grant permanent buffs like increased coin multipliers or higher Luck.

How do I access Lost Isle?

Lost Isle is located underwater, and you need diving gear to get in. Hints about how to find the entrance are visible above the sea surface. It contains the Sisyphus Statue and Treasure Room, both of which are required for the Ghostfinn Rod quest.
