Your first minutes in the game

Step
In short The tutorial is the fastest way to understand the basics, so do not skip it.

When you first join, the Glowing Figure NPC on Novabay Island gives you a choice: start the tutorial or skip it. The tutorial walks you through earning your first cash, buying an Iron Pickaxe, and placing a Basic Furnace on your plot. Finishing it earns you the Tutorial Complete badge and gives you a working base to build from.

  1. Talk to Glowing Figure choose option 1 to start the tutorial instead of skipping it.
  2. Head to the back of UCS talk to Marcus there to earn your first $90.
  3. Buy an Iron Pickaxe from UCS this is your starter mining tool.
  4. Mine your first ore and sell it at Silver's Sellzone to see how the selling loop works.
  5. Earn $300 by any method, then buy a Basic Furnace and place it on your plot to finish the tutorial.
  6. Check your Item Bag it has five storage slots and comes with you from the start, so know what fits.

How your level works

Summary
In short Each tool type has its own level that rises the more you use it, and you must meet a tool's level requirement before you can use it.

Every pickaxe, axe, and fishing rod has a level requirement. When you try to use a tool you are not levelled enough for, your character simply does nothing and a prompt appears on screen. To see your current level, open your inventory and click the star icon next to CHARACTER — the yellow bar shows your active level, which caps at 10.

  • Mining level raised by swinging a pickaxe.
  • Lumber level raised by chopping with an axe.
  • Fishing level raised by using a fishing rod.
  • Off-class tools you can use tools outside your class but only up to a level requirement of 4.
  • Cap all levels stop at 10.
03

Early money: ores, trees, and fish

Tips
In short Start with resources close to home that need little or no processing, then move to higher-value options as your gear improves.

The goal of the early game is to afford better furnaces and bigger vehicles so you can haul more per trip. Pick resources that match the tools you actually have right now.

Tips worth knowing
  • Iron and Copper both spawn on Novabay Island — no boat needed, and the Basic Furnace handles Iron while the Improved Furnace handles Copper.
  • Amber sells for $30 per unit raw and spawns in the Jungle, Stone Cradle, and Dusty Passages — no refining required.
  • Marble and Granite from Marble Valley sell for $21 and $18 per unit without any refining at all.
  • Quartz can be refined and then polished up to $17 per unit; it is found in Dusty Passages and Rosewell Mines.
  • Cherry Trees on Novabay Island are easy to reach early and pay $1.05 per unit raw or $2.80 planked.
  • For fishing, park at the dock and sell your catches to Tucker — he pays more than Silver's Sellery for marine items.
04

Moving to higher-value resources

Table
In short Each advanced resource has a clear trade-off between profit and difficulty, so match your choice to your current gear and risk tolerance.

Once you have a decent vehicle and furnace, these are the main money-making paths. Each one has real costs and risks to weigh before committing to a long haul.

Cobalthigh per-unit value when refined and polished; on Novabay Island so no boat is needed, but the Stone Cradle route is long and costs around $3,000 in Dynamite to open.
Volcaniumsells immediately with no processing; very high value, but water travel is required and Doorman Mike charges $4,000 to pass (or $3,600 with the Golden Ticket talent).
Blastshards and Voltshardsno refining needed and they spawn constantly, but hitting above 65% on your tool flings you, and you must use a gemstone to enter the Crystalized Abyss.
Cloudnitemultiple nodes spawn close together, but respawn is slow, the Industrial Furnace is required, and large hauls cause noticeable lag.
Silverwood and Goldwoodhigh raw and planked value, but access requires a gemstone for the Crystalized Abyss and long logs reduce your turning radius inside Rosewell Mines.
Dumortieritethe most valuable resource from Solar and Lunar Meteors at $2,000 per unit refined, but requires the Atom-8 Furnace and only comes from those meteor events.
05

Water-route dangers

Warn
In short Boat trips carry three serious risks — tolls, lag crashes, and losing cargo to The Unknown — so prepare before you set out.

Areas like Volcanium, The Sarcophagus, and Miner's Hideout are only reachable by water. A single bad lag spike can destroy your boat and everything on it. Items that fall into The Unknown cannot be recovered.

Worth watching out for
Doorman Mike collects $4,000 each way; budget for both the trip in and the trip out.
If your connection feels unstable, skip the water route that day a lag spike is enough to lose a full cargo.
Load and unload slowly near The Sarcophagus; ores that fall into The Unknown are gone permanently.
At least a tier 4 pickaxe is needed to mine the most valuable ores in that area, so check your tool before the journey.
06

Building on your plot

Tips
In short Blueprints let you construct and automate your base, and the right material choices save resources and improve the look of your builds.

Blueprints are bought from stores like UCS and Coal's Furniture, then placed and filled using the Hammer tool. The material you fill a blueprint with changes how it looks and behaves.

Tips worth knowing
  • Plank logs before using them as blueprint fill — raw logs do not work directly in blueprints.
  • Use the Hammer's scaling option to make walls thinner and use fewer units of material per blueprint.
  • Polished Iron works as a steel-look material and can be painted with the Paintgun.
  • Glass can be tinted — darker paint makes it harder to see through, lighter paint makes it more transparent.
  • Ice blocks the view through it entirely, unlike glass, which gives it a unique use in builds.
  • Blueprints can be clipped around existing furniture like tool holders without blocking access to them.
07

Useful gamepasses

Summary
In short Three gamepasses directly speed up progression, though none of them are required to reach the late game.

These are the gamepasses that affect how quickly you level up or how efficiently you build.

  • 50% Level Exp boost (299 Robux) all tool experience earned is 50% higher.
  • 50% Cheaper Filling (399 Robux) blueprint filling uses half the material, which matters most for large builds.
  • Deeper Sack expands the Item Bag beyond its default five slots.
08

Badges worth chasing for guidance

Check

The game has 19 badges. Some are given automatically, but others mark real milestones in crafting, exploration, and mastery.

  • Tutorial Complete finish both tutorial chapters so you have a Basic Furnace placed and understand the selling loop.
  • First Purchase spend money at any shop early to get into the habit of upgrading gear.
  • Tourist visit every location in the game, which effectively forces you to learn the map.
  • Awakening awaken a runestone.
  • Master Miner, Master Lumberjack, Master Fisher complete each class bestiary to 100%, marking true late-game completion.
  • Rig-ged complete the quest called Industrializing Oil.

Common questions

FAQ

How do I stop losing cargo on boat trips?

The biggest cause of cargo loss is a lag spike flipping or destroying your boat. When you are near The Sarcophagus, load and unload slowly so nothing falls into The Unknown.
