About

Overview

ATC Air Traffic Simulator puts you in the control tower of a real airport, where your job is to guide arriving and departing flights, keep the gates moving, and deal with emergencies when they hit. This guide covers how movement ranks work, how to expand your airport, and what to do when a Mayday call comes in.

Three core jobs every controller handles

Check
In short Every session in the tower comes down to guiding flights, managing gates, and reacting to emergencies.

The game puts three responsibilities on you at once.

  • Flight guidance clear arriving and departing aircraft safely through your airspace
  • Gate management keep ground flow organised so planes move in and out without backing up
  • Emergency response when a Mayday signal appears, drop everything else and handle it first
  • Co-op option split these duties with friends in multiplayer so each person can focus on one role

How the movement rank system works

Step
In short Every flight you guide adds one movement to your total, and hitting certain totals unlocks the next rank.

Ranks track how experienced you are as a controller. There is no shortcut — you earn movements one guided flight at a time. The first one you complete gets you on the board, and the climb begins from there.

  1. Guide your first flight this unlocks the Getting Started badge and puts you on the rank ladder
  2. Reach 50 movements you earn Local Traffic Controller certification
  3. Reach 250 movements Approach Qualified status is awarded for solid sequencing
  4. Reach 750 movements Terminal Controller recognises you as master of the terminal airspace
  5. Reach 1,500 movements Area Controller is the elite tier, requiring serious focus across sectors
  6. Reach 5,000 movements Global Airspace Master is the top honour the game awards

Protecting your Air Miles during operations

Warn
In short Go-arounds and clearance delays are the two fastest ways to lose Air Miles, so eliminate both.

Air Miles are the score that reflects how well your airport is running. Two specific mistakes drain them: a go-around happens when a plane has to abort its landing and try again, and a clearance delay happens when you keep a pilot waiting too long for permission to proceed.

Worth watching out for
Issue landing and departure clearances as soon as a flight is in position
Avoid go-arounds and clearance delays to protect your Air Miles
05

Expanding your airport capacity

Step
In short Buying new gates and new airports is the main way to handle more flights as your movement count grows.

Expansion lets you process more aircraft at once and opens up entirely new locations to manage.

  1. Buy additional gates at your current airport to increase capacity
  2. Purchase an entirely new airport when you are ready to run a second location available airports include LEMI, ESGG, CYOW, EGKK, LGRP, LOWI, SKBO, and GCFV
  3. Unlock every gate at a single airport doing so earns that airport's completion badge
06

Building and customising your fleet

Tips
In short With over 50 real jets and a range of paint schemes available, personalising your fleet is part of the long-term game.

The game includes more than 50 authentic jet aircraft, among them the A320, B737, A350, and B787. You can apply liveries to change how your planes look.

Tips worth knowing
  • Browse the full roster of 50-plus jets and pick the aircraft that suit your style
  • Apply a livery to any aircraft to give it a distinctive paint scheme

Common questions

FAQ

Can I play alone, or do I need friends?

You can run the tower entirely on your own. Multiplayer co-op is an option, not a requirement, and it lets you split the workload with others rather than handling every job yourself.

What happens if I unlock all the gates at an airport?

Reaching maximum gate capacity at any airport earns you that airport's completion badge. Each of the game's airports has its own badge.

How do I report a bug?

The game directs players to submit bug reports through the community server.
