How character skills and awakening work

Tips
In short Your numbered skills and awakening are almost always stronger than basic attacks, so knowing when to use them decides most fights.

Each character has four skills on keys 1 through 4, plus a Utility on C, a Power Rush on X, and an Ultimate on T. Awakening is triggered with G and shifts your character into a stronger moveset for a limited time — in Update 13 the mode requirement was set to 250 points, and you now lose less awakening meter on death in casual matches than in ranked.

Tips worth knowing
  • Power Rush now carries super armor as of Update 13
  • Awakening changes your moveset entirely, not just your stats — learn both forms of your character
  • After Power Rush ends, you get a brief window of no stun and a speed boost
03

Itachi and the Sasuke variants — how they differ

Table
In short All three Uchiha characters reward different playstyles, so picking one depends on whether you prefer mix-ups, hybrid pressure, or aggressive rushdown.

Update 13 added Itachi Uchiha and the Sasuke Hebi variant alongside a full rework of Sasuke Taka's base moveset. Each plays very differently despite sharing the Uchiha theme.

Itachi (3,500 Cash)mid-range mix-up in base; bruiser/glass cannon in awakening with Susano'o draining HP over time
Sasuke Taka (3,000 Cash)hybrid character rated Difficult; Amaterasu status burns opponents over time; Susano'o can be summoned and deactivated mid-fight
Sasuke Hebi (unlock at Level 10 on Sasuke Taka)rushdown variant; Rigged Shuriken sticks to blocks for ongoing pressure; Kirin Ultimate costs 150 points and can be freely aimed
04

Character progression and rewards

Step
In short Working through a character's path to at least Tier 20 unlocks every character-specific cosmetic reward, and reaching Tier 100 gives you a diamond for Prestige Characters.

Every character has a path of up to 1,000 tiers. You earn character EXP automatically while playing that character in public or ranked matches — no separate purchase is needed. Most tiers alternate between 250 Cash and 10 Tokens.

  1. Tier 5 earn a unique skin exclusive to that character's path
  2. Tier 10 earn either a Variant unlock or a second exclusive skin
  3. Tier 15 earn an emote that is equipped by default
  4. Tier 20 earn the character's title and unlock their mastery aura, a passive visual that shows you have completed the path
  5. Tier 100 earn a diamond used to unlock Prestige Characters and the character's mastery icon
05

First steps for new players

Step
In short Getting through the tutorial and spending your first Cash on a starter character you like is the fastest way into real matches.

When you join for the first time you earn the Unleasher badge automatically. Completing the tutorial earns you the Unleash your Shonen badge. Characters can be accessed by clicking the Characters icon on the interface in the main lobby.

  1. Complete the tutorial it rewards a badge
  2. Prestige your level once you feel comfortable doing it for the first time earns the Prestige Unleashed badge
  3. Aim for Invincible rank in any ranked mode to earn the Invincible badge
06

Seasonal events worth knowing about

Summary
In short Both annual events reward exclusive cosmetics you cannot get any other way, so play them while they are live.

Two events run each year on a limited schedule. Missing them means waiting until the following year, as rewards are archived rather than made permanently available.

  • Halloween Unleashed collect Candy by defeating players, then spend it at Soul Evans in the lobby for exclusive Halloween skins and titles
  • Christmas Unleashed interact with the Christmas tree in the Capsule Corp. building to receive a free random character; complete Killua's quest for a Christmas skin

Common questions

FAQ

How do I unlock Sasuke Hebi?

You need to reach Level 10 on the Sasuke Taka character path. Sasuke Hebi is his variant and does not require a separate Cash purchase once that milestone is hit.

Why does Itachi keep losing HP during his Susano'o?

The Mangekyo Sharingan passive drains Itachi's health continuously while the Susano'o form is active. Press key 4 to deactivate it and stop the drain.

What is the difference between casual and ranked map selection?

In casual and FFA matches, three maps are offered and players vote on which one to play. In ranked, the game picks a map at random, and the available pool changes depending on whether the mode is 1v1, 2v2, or 3v3.
