How a shift runs

Step
In short A shift is split into a daytime work phase and a nighttime survival phase, and you need to handle both well.

Every shift starts during the day, when your job looks a lot like running an actual daycare. You inspect new arrivals with the camera, prepare meals, play mini-games with the children, and keep everyone calm. Once night falls, mysterious events kick in and simply staying alive becomes the priority. Getting through the whole shift without dying is what earns you the survival badges.

  1. Inspect arrivals use the camera on each new visitor before letting them through
  2. Prepare meals get food ready for the children during the daytime phase
  3. Play mini-games keep the children entertained as part of your daycare duties
  4. Keep children calm settle them down so the daycare is ready when night comes
  5. Survive the night once nighttime events begin, focus entirely on staying alive

Finding impostors

Tips

Impostors are dangerous visitors disguised as real children, and spotting them is the core challenge of every shift. The camera lets you pick up suspicious clues that you would miss with a naked-eye look, so treat every new arrival as a potential threat until the camera clears them. Letting an impostor slip through makes the nighttime phase much harder to survive. If you expose 25 impostors across all your sessions, you unlock the Imposter Hunter badge.

Tips worth knowing
  • Pull up the camera for every visitor, not just the ones who already seem off
  • Look for suspicious clues the camera reveals rather than judging by appearance alone
  • Expose 25 impostors to earn the Imposter Hunter badge

Things that will get you killed

Warn
In short Skipping daytime duties or ignoring a suspicious visitor makes the night far more dangerous than it needs to be.

The daytime phase exists to set you up for the night, so cutting corners there puts you in a bad spot when events start. An impostor you missed during inspections is one more threat waiting for you after dark. Build the habit of finishing every daytime task before the shift moves on.

Worth watching out for
Skipping visitor inspections leaves impostors free to cause trouble at night
Leaving meals unprepared or children unsettled means your daytime duties are unfinished when night arrives
