Promotions, new jobs, and better gear

Tips
In short Cleaning more rooms is the only way to unlock harder jobs and upgraded equipment.

Progress in Carpet Cleaning Simulator is entirely driven by how much cleaning you do. Promotions open up new job types and bigger messes to tackle, and your equipment improves alongside them. The Mop Pilled badge unlocks when you pick up a mop, which is one of the gear upgrades you earn as you advance.

Tips worth knowing
  • After you are promoted, check your available jobs — the list grows each time.
  • The Completionist badge requires you to finish every job currently in the game.
  • Cleaning 25 rooms earns you the Door Dasher badge.

Hiring staff and trading with the Strange Man

Check
In short Both the hire system and the Strange Man trade are worth doing early for the badges and the extra depth they add.

Once you have cleaned enough, the game lets you hire your first employee. Separately, a peculiar character called the Strange Man appears in the game and offers to trade with you using dirt. Each one unlocks a badge.

  • Make your first hire to earn the Empire of Suds badge.
  • Find the Strange Man and complete a dirt trade with him to earn the Strange Man badge.
  • Do not give the Strange Man Scrubby's analytics the badge description makes clear this is a bad idea.
