K2 Climbing Simulator puts you on the world's second-highest mountain, where thin air, brutal weather, and sheer terrain stand between you and the summit. You can tackle the climb solo or rope up with friends. This guide covers controls, camp strategy, co-op, and how to push all the way to the top.
In shortGetting comfortable with the camera and key bindings before your first real ascent saves a lot of frustration on the mountain.
The game recommends switching to the Climbing Camera or First Person Camera for the best experience. Press Left Ctrl to activate the Climbing Camera (Shift Lock). CapsLock switches the shoulder side in third person.

In shortReaching and unlocking each basecamp is the backbone of your progress, letting you skip sections you have already conquered.
K2 is built around a staged route with camps acting as rest and recovery points along the way. Each time you reach a new basecamp for the first time, it unlocks as a spawn point in the main menu, so a failed attempt does not send you back to the very bottom. Manage your health and oxygen at every stop rather than pushing through on fumes.
Reach East Basecamponce you arrive, it unlocks in the main menu so you can spawn there on future attempts
Reach South Basecampthe same unlock applies here, giving you a higher starting point
Watch your oxygen gaugeit drops as altitude increases
Push for the summitclearing every camp along the route puts you above the clouds and earns the Reached the Summit badge

Surviving the mountain: health and weather
Tips
In shortPatience and awareness of your gauges matter more than speed on K2.
The terrain is modeled to true scale, so every ridge and step carries real consequence. Weather and time of day shift constantly, changing how dangerous a section feels even if you have climbed it before.
Tips worth knowing
Keep an eye on your oxygen gauge at all times — letting it hit zero puts your character in a critical state
If the weather starts turning bad, consider retreating to the nearest camp rather than pressing on
On exposed ridges, move carefully and confirm your footing before each step
Thin air and unforgiving weather actively affect how hard the climb is
06
Climbing with friends
Tips
In shortCo-op play with a rope connection adds a real safety net and makes the summit more achievable.
You can tackle K2 solo or with friends, and both approaches are fully supported. Playing with others adds a rope system that reduces the consequence of a fall. Click on another player to send them a rope attach request and get the connection set up before you hit the dangerous sections.
Tips worth knowing
Click a friend's character to send a rope attach request — do this early, before you reach the hard ridges
A rope connection between players reduces fall risk on steep terrain
Solo play is fully supported as a genuine challenge
07
Redeem codes
Step
In shortCodes expire and can only be used once, so enter them as soon as you hear about them.
The developers release codes that reward players through an in-game input menu. Each code can only be redeemed once per account, and expired codes will not work, so do not sit on them.
Open the code input menu inside the game
Type or paste the code exactly as it appears
Check the official group for new code announcements so you catch them before they expire
A rest point on the route up K2 where you can recover health and oxygen; reaching one for the first time unlocks it as a spawn location in the main menu.
Oxygen gauge
A meter that falls as you climb higher; if it empties, your character enters a critical state.
Rope attach
A co-op connection between two players that reduces the danger of falls on steep sections.
Climbing Camera
A third-person camera angle activated with Left Ctrl, recommended by the developers for the best view during ascent.
Wipe Screen
An action (C on keyboard, Y on console) that clears your view when weather or other effects obscure it.
Common questions
FAQ
Can I play K2 alone, or do I need friends?
Solo play is fully supported. Everything from the basecamps to the summit can be reached without other players.
What happens when I reach a basecamp for the first time?
Reaching East Basecamp or South Basecamp for the first time unlocks that camp as a spawn point in the main menu. On any future attempt, you can start from there instead of the bottom.
How does the rope work in co-op?
Click on another player's character to send them a rope attach request. Once they accept, you are connected, which reduces the risk if one of you falls on a steep ridge or exposed section.
