Core mechanics before you start
CheckYou carry exactly three metal rods at a time, and you use them to get through terrain you cannot cross by jumping alone. When you run out, you are stuck until you find a restock box. The menu opens with M, Y, or the triangle button, and if your mouse feels locked you can free it with V.
- You start every attempt with three rods that is your hard cap.
- Restock boxes are placed around each stage; touching one refills you to the maximum.
- Open the menu with M, Y, or △ at any time.
- Press V if you need to unlock your mouse mid-session.
- Checkpoints are sparse, so a single mistake can send you back a long way.

Stage order and the rods you earn
StepThe game runs you through six stages after the tutorial. Every stage completion rewards both a badge and a rod named after that environment.
- Tutorial finish it to earn the Beginner Climber badge and learn the controls.
- Plains clear this to earn the Novice Climber badge and the Grassy rod.
- Snow clear this to earn the Intermediate Climber badge and the Ice rod.
- Cave clear this to earn the Experienced Climber badge and the Rock rod.
- Desert clear this to earn the Professional Climber badge and the Sand rod.
- City clear this to earn the Expert Climber badge and the Brick rod.
Making the most of sparse checkpoints
WarnOne mistake can cost you all your progress. That pressure is worst when you approach a hard section with an empty inventory.
Milestone badges beyond stage clears
TableAlongside the six stage badges there are two more that track cumulative actions across your whole time in the game.
| Grim Landmark | awarded after dying 50 times in total. |
| Resourceful | awarded after throwing 100 rods in total. |
