Once you have cash, two upgrade paths open up. Upgrading your Brainrots increases how much cash they generate. Upgrading your base unlocks more storage slots, which lets you hold more Brainrots at once.

Glossary

Brainrot: An item you collect while running on the hexagon platform; the source of your cash earnings and the thing you upgrade.
Hexagon: A tile that makes up the platform you run on; tiles disappear as the round progresses, reducing the space you have to stand.
Storage slot: A space in your base that holds one Brainrot; upgrading the base opens more slots so you can store and earn from more Brainrots at once.
