Getting started in Neighbors
StepWhen you first load in, you'll go through a character creation screen where you set your look and name. After that, you're dropped into the game world alongside other players. There's no set objective — just explore, find people, and start talking. The game is open-ended, so do whatever feels right.
- Customize your character pick a look you're happy with before heading out.
- Scan the area check where other players are gathered so you have somewhere to head toward.
- Start a conversation send a message to someone nearby to break the ice.
- Find a group look for clusters of players already hanging out together and join in.
How credits work
SummaryCredits are the in-game currency in Neighbors. You earn one credit per minute simply by being in the game — no special action required. Those credits go toward changing and customizing how your character looks.
- Earn rate one credit per minute, automatically
- How to earn no action needed, just stay in the game
- What they're for character customization and item purchases
Voice chat and staying safe
WarnVoice chat is strongly recommended but not required — text chat is a perfectly complete option. If you do use voice chat, keep your personal information to yourself at all times. The block feature is there for a reason: use it without hesitation if someone makes you uncomfortable.
Devices and languages
TipsThe game runs on PC, mobile, VR, and console, so you can pick up wherever you are. Neighbors also supports sixteen languages — English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Polish, Thai, Turkish, Japanese, Korean, and Tagalog — which means you have a real shot at finding players who speak your language.
- Switching your language setting makes it easier to find players who speak the same language as you.
- With sixteen supported languages, the player base is genuinely international.
Common problems and quick fixes
CheckIf something stops working, run through these checks before doing anything drastic. A lot of issues fix themselves with a reconnect or a settings tweak. If you've accidentally blocked someone, that's also worth checking before assuming they went offline.
- Chat partner not showing up check whether you've blocked them, or whether they've gone offline.
- No players around try switching to a different server.
- Character not responding close the game fully and relaunch it.

No. Credits accumulate on their own at one per minute, so you can customize your character over time without spending anything.
Is voice chat required to play?
It's strongly recommended, but text chat works perfectly well on its own.
What should I do if someone is being inappropriate?
Block the player using the block feature, then leave the area or the game if you need to. Tell a parent or trusted adult what happened.
