About

Overview

Escape Moving Head is an obby game where you run from Roberto, a moving head who chases you through each stage. There are 12 main stages plus boss stages and seasonal stages, and every run gets harder as you go. This guide covers how to get through each stage, how to handle the boss, and what to do when you get stuck.

How the game is set up

Summary
In short The game drops you straight into Stage 1 and saves your progress automatically, so you can always pick up where you left off.

When you load in, Stage 1 starts right away. Your progress is saved as you clear each stage, so leaving the game mid-run does not cost you your completed stages. Stages must be cleared in order; you cannot skip ahead to one you have not beaten yet, though you can replay any stage you have already finished. As of March 5, 2025, Stage 12 is the newest stage, and the boss was added on December 18, 2024.

Stage count 12 main stages, plus boss stages and seasonal stages
Starting point Stage 1 begins automatically on login
Progress saved after each stage is cleared
Stage order must be completed in sequence; skipping is not possible
Replay any cleared stage can be revisited freely
Pursuer Roberto, described as the son of the famous Felipe head and the Angry head

Getting through the early stages

Tips
In short In Stages 1 through 3, learn how to use the course layout to keep Roberto off your back.

The early stages teach you the two skills you will need throughout the whole game: clearing the obby obstacles and keeping distance from Roberto at the same time. Falling during any obstacle section ends your run at that stage, so steady movement beats rushing.

Tips worth knowing
  • Move toward darker or more enclosed areas when Roberto is closing in.
  • Corners and bends in the course can help you lose Roberto, so prefer winding sections over straight ones.
  • Take jumps carefully — a fall resets you to the start of that stage.

What changes in the later stages

Check
In short From Stage 4 onward, Roberto moves faster and the courses become more complex, so the tactics that worked early on stop being enough.

As stages increase in number, Roberto's speed rises and new obstacles appear in the courses. Later stages can also introduce more than one pursuer, meaning escaping one head does not mean you are safe.

  • Roberto moves faster in later stages.
  • A second pursuer can appear after you have already shaken the first.
  • Keep moving rather than waiting in one spot once the middle stages start.

Preparing for the boss

Tips
In short Clear all 12 main stages first so that the evasion skills you have built carry over into the boss fight.

The boss stages are significantly harder than the standard stages. Every technique you have picked up — reading Roberto's movement, using corners, staying off open ground — applies here too. Expect to attempt the boss more than once; learning the pattern across multiple runs is the main way to make progress.

Tips worth knowing
  • Finish all 12 numbered stages before tackling the boss.
  • Use corners and level changes in boss stages the same way you do in normal ones.
  • Treat it as survival — the goal is to outlast the boss's pattern.
  • A failed attempt costs you nothing permanently, so repeat runs until the pattern becomes familiar.
06

Seasonal stages

Tips
In short The Halloween and Christmas stages are separate from the numbered stages and each has its own badge.

Two seasonal stages exist alongside the main 12: a Halloween stage and a Christmas stage. Each one awards its own badge when cleared. They are treated as extra content on top of the main progression rather than a required step in the numbered sequence.

Tips worth knowing
  • Clearing the Halloween stage earns the Stage 🎃 badge.
  • Clearing the Christmas stage earns the Stage 🎄 badge.
  • These stages are separate from the main 12 and do not block progress through the numbered sequence.
07

Things to check when you are stuck

Check
In short Most blocks come down to course knowledge or misjudging the distance between you and Roberto.

Running a different completed stage for a few minutes and then returning can also help.

  • Confirm you are moving in the right direction it is easy to get turned around in a complex course.
  • Check your jump timing on any obstacle that has knocked you off repeatedly.
  • Assess whether you are giving Roberto too much open space to close the gap.
  • Try a different path through the stage if the route you have been using keeps failing.
08

Cost and free-to-play status

Summary
In short Every stage, including the boss, is free to play, and nothing sold affects how the game actually plays.

All 12 main stages, the boss stages, and the seasonal stages are accessible without spending anything. A free catalog avatar is available and changes only your character's appearance. Progress saving is also free, so leaving and returning to the game costs nothing.

Stages all free, including boss and seasonal content
Free avatar available in the catalog; changes looks only
Progress saving automatic and free

Common questions

FAQ

Do I have to start over if I fail a stage?

No. Failing a stage sends you back to the beginning of that stage, not back to Stage 1. Any stages you have already cleared stay cleared, so your overall progress is never lost.

Can I play with friends?

Other players can be in the same server as you, so you can run stages at the same time.

Can I skip a stage I am struggling with?

No — stages must be completed in order before the next one unlocks. You can replay any stage you have already beaten, but uncompleted stages cannot be jumped over.

How do I know when a new stage is added?

Following the creator's group and liking the game are the ways the developers flag updates. Stage 12, the most recent numbered stage, was added on March 5, 2025.
