Midnight Shift Guide: Your duties every shift
About
OverviewMidnight Shift (Anomaly) puts you behind the counter of a late-night gas station where some customers are not human. Your job is to serve regulars, keep the store running, and identify impostors before they cause trouble. This guide covers the core duties, how to spot and handle impostors, what ends a shift early, and how to chase the harder badges.

Your duties every shift
CheckA shift is not just about dealing with impostors — the store still has to run. You will be serving customers at the counter, restocking empty shelves, cleaning up spills on the floor, and bagging litter.
- Serve customers at the counter to earn money toward the night's quota
- Restock shelves whenever stock runs out
- Clean spills from the floor
- Bag any litter you find around the station
- Reset the breaker if a power cut hits you cannot keep working until you do
How to identify and shoot an impostor
StepThere is a correct order for handling a suspicious customer. If you are already certain, you can act fast — shooting within five seconds of the impostor reaching the counter earns its own badge.
- Scan the ID read the customer's ID at the counter
- Search the terminal cross-check the ID information on the terminal machine
- Ask a question question the customer
- Make your call shoot if you have confirmed they are an impostor
- Move fast when certain if you are sure right away, you have five seconds from when they reach the counter to shoot and earn the Don't Hesitate badge
What ends your run
WarnNights end badly in two different ways. One is about performance, the other is about survival.
Playing with others
TipsUp to fifteen players can share one server, and several badges depend entirely on your crew.
- A crew of four who all survive to the end of a night unlocks the Full Crew badge
- Finishing a night with a friend in your crew earns Bring a Friend
- Every Last Coin requires the whole server to collect all tokens in a single night, so coordinate with everyone
The hardest badges
TableMost badges stack up naturally over many sessions, but a handful require specific conditions in a single run. Know what each one demands before you go for it.
| Three Nights Straight | complete nights 1, 2, and 3 back-to-back in one run with zero mistakes |
| Eagle Eye | finish a night perfectly, meaning every impostor call was correct |
| Every Last Coin | collect all tokens in a single night; shared across the whole server |
| Full Crew | end a night with four players still alive |
| Regulars | reach 100 total transactions across your play |
| Exterminator | kill 25 rats found in the station |

Common questions
FAQCan I play alone?
You can enter a shift by yourself and handle all the store duties solo. However, badges like Full Crew require four players to survive to the end of a night, so those are out of reach without a crew.
What happens if I shoot an innocent customer?
It breaks the perfect-night condition, so you lose your chance at the Eagle Eye badge for that run. It also counts as a mistake, which rules out Three Nights Straight if you are attempting that.
How many nights are there?
Nights 1, 2, and 3 are confirmed — Three Nights Straight asks you to clear all three in one run.
What are rats and do I need to hunt them?
Rats appear in the station and can be killed. Killing 25 of them earns the Exterminator badge.
