Getting started — character creation and first steps
StepWhen you load in, the first thing the game asks you to do is create your character. Once that is done, you are dropped into a collapsed world with nothing handed to you. Your immediate job is to explore nearby abandoned buildings and towns to find the supplies you need to survive. Keep an eye on where walkers are as you move through each area.
- Create your character set this up before anything else in the game.
- Explore ruined buildings search every structure nearby for supplies.
- Watch walker positions check where the infected are before you commit to entering any building.
- Collect weapons and clothing grab anything that improves your combat ability or protection.
Threats you will face — walkers and other players
WarnThis is not a game where the only danger wears a zombie's face. Other players are just as dangerous as the infected, and fights over supplies can start without warning. Because the world is persistent and online, every choice you make carries real risk.
Factions — forming groups and working together
TipsGoing it alone is possible, but a server that fits up to 50 players means the odds are stacked against any solo survivor. Factions let you share resources, split roles, and defend a base together. Faction versus faction conflict — including territory disputes — is a major part of what the game is built around.
- Form or join a faction to have backup.
- Split roles inside your faction — some members scout and loot while others hold down the base.
- Share a base with your faction to make managing collected supplies easier.
- Faction conflicts and territorial fights are a major element of the game.
Gear — weapons, vehicles, clothing, and equipment
TableEverything you collect shapes both how you fight and how far you can reach. Weapons handle combat, vehicles expand where you can go, and clothing plus equipment round out your build. The combination you end up with also determines how much your faction can bring to a large-scale conflict.
| Weapons | essential for fighting walkers and other players. |
| Vehicles | expand your movement speed and how much of the map you can realistically reach. |
| Clothing | contributes to your stats and lets you express your character's identity. |
| Equipment | rounds out your defensive and combat capabilities. |
