First steps when you join
StepWhen you load in, the world around your base has resources ready to collect. Grab wood, stone, and whatever else you can find, then head straight to the crafting screen. Your priority is a wall around the outside of your base and at least one weapon — bare hands will not cut it against the monsters.
- Gather resources search the area around your base for wood, stone, and other materials.
- Build your outer wall place it around the full perimeter of your base to block monsters from walking straight in.
- Craft a weapon make one before the round starts so you can actually fight back.
Keeping up as rounds get harder
StepEach round the monsters hit harder and take more to bring down. The window between waves is your chance to fix broken sections, swap weaker wall materials for sturdier ones, and push your weapons to the next level.
- Repair broken walls immediately every gap is an open door for the next wave.
- Upgrade wall materials move from wood to stone, then from stone to harder materials as you collect them.
- Level up your weapons higher attack means monsters go down faster.
- Save spare resources keeping a stockpile ready means you can rebuild quickly after a rough round.
Smart base layout
TipsA well-planned base slows monsters down and gives you room to breathe even when things get chaotic. Layering your walls means the first one breaking does not immediately let enemies reach you. Keeping your resource stash in the center of the base lets you craft on the move if monsters push through.
- Build multiple layers of walls so a breach in the outer ring still leaves you protected.
- Face your thickest walls toward the direction monsters come from.
- Funnel enemies into narrow gaps so several cannot rush you side by side at once.
- Store collected resources toward the center of the base, away from the front lines.
- Limit the number of entry points in your base so you know exactly where to focus your defense.
Playing with friends
CheckBuild and Survive lets you invite friends to work on your base together. The biggest advantage of a full group is that nobody has to do everything alone — someone can be gathering while someone else is building and a third person is fighting. A base designed so everyone can find and fix damaged sections quickly will last far longer than one only one person understands.
- Assign a gatherer to keep resources flowing while others build.
- Have at least one player focused on fighting so monsters do not pile up at the walls.
- Keep one person on repair duty during a wave so breaches get closed fast.
- Design the base layout together so every player knows where the weak points are.
When your base keeps falling
WarnGetting overwhelmed feels sudden, but there is usually a clear reason. Run through this list whenever a round goes badly and you will usually find the fix quickly.

Common questions
FAQCan you play alone?
Yes, you can play solo. Teaming up with friends makes preparation faster and lets you survive further into the harder rounds, but the game works fine by yourself.
What happens if monsters break into your base during a round?
The round eventually ends and you can repair the damage, but while monsters are inside you are at serious risk of being taken down. Patching breaches as fast as possible during a wave is the best way to stop the situation from getting worse.
Does your base disappear when you log out?
No — everything autosaves, so your base will be exactly as you left it the next time you play.
What materials should a beginner start with?
Start with whatever is nearby, typically wood and stone. As rounds progress, replace those early materials with harder ones rather than trying to get the best stuff immediately.
