First steps before you run
Step
When you first load in, a start menu appears before the action starts. The game runs in first person by default, but if that makes you dizzy or disoriented you can switch it off right there and play in third person instead. Once you have the camera set, pick Easy mode for your first run.
- Open the start menu decide whether to keep first-person view on or turn it off before you move.
- Choose Easy mode this is the right starting point; Hard mode adds more obstacles, traps, and faster stronger enemies.

How the two enemies behave
Table
The nursery has two threats with very different behavior.
| Betty | low alertness normally, but becomes dangerous once angered, so distance yourself before that happens. |
| Ben the Janitor | actively tries to catch you at all times. |
Easy mode versus Hard mode
Table
Hard mode adds more obstacles and traps on top of the existing course, and both Betty and Ben move faster and are stronger. The leaderboard time scores also get more competitive there.

Playing as Betty
Step
Instead of escaping, you can take control of Betty and become the threat. Press the Betty icon to switch into that role.
- Press the Betty icon this switches you into the capture role.
- Chase down other players and capture them.
- Reach 50 captures doing this earns the Capture Badge, though this badge is VIP only.
Hidden collectibles and secret badges
Check
Beyond finishing the course, the map holds a number of hidden objects and a secret enemy.
- Find all 10 phones scattered around the map rewards the Betty Phones! secret badge.
- Locate the secret mini Chewy rewards the Mini Chewy badge.
- Find and defeat the hidden Betty Boss somewhere in the game rewards the Hidden Boss! badge.
- Collect 10 Eggs during the Egg Hunt 2024 event rewards a limited badge and a free event item.
- Collect 10 Betty Mascots around the map rewards the limited Betty Shoulder Mascot UGC badge.
- Complete 6 tasks to claim the Betty Shoulder Mascot UGC limited to 500 total.

Glossary- Obby
- Short for obstacle course — a Roblox game type where you jump and run through a series of challenges to reach a finish line.
- First-person view
- A camera mode where you see the game through your character's own eyes; this game uses it by default but lets you turn it off in the start menu.
- Ben the Janitor
- One of the two enemies in the nursery, always actively trying to catch you.
- Hard mode
- A higher-difficulty version of the escape that adds more obstacles and traps and makes both enemies faster and stronger.
- UGC
- User-generated content — in this context, a wearable avatar item you can earn by completing in-game tasks.
- Leaderboard
- An in-game ranking that shows how your finish time compares to other players, including friends.
Common questions
FAQCan I turn off first-person view?
Yes. The start menu that appears when you load in has an option to switch it off. Once you turn it off there, you play in a standard third-person view for that session.
When should I try Hard mode?
Hard mode adds extra obstacles and traps on top of the existing course, and both enemies are noticeably faster and stronger.
How do I get the Betty Shoulder Mascot UGC?
Complete the 6 tasks the game sets out for you. Only 500 copies exist total.
Does the Capture Badge require anything special?
Yes. The Capture Badge is VIP only, and requires capturing 50 players while playing as Betty or other monsters.
