Gakuran is a school-life roleplay game set in Japan in May 2007, where you build a character, explore a school campus, and create your own stories with other players. The community has also built out a full combat system, so the game covers both peaceful roleplay and serious fighting.
In shortWhen you first open the game, you land in a character creation screen.
When you first open the game, you land in a character creation screen. You can adjust hair style, hair color, eye shape, uniform color, and accessories like hats and ribbons. You can return and edit your character's appearance any time through the menu, so nothing you pick here is permanent. Once you finish, you enter the school and the game opens up.
Pick your lookchoose a hairstyle, hair color, eye style, and uniform color that fit the character you want to play.
Add accessorieshats, ribbons, and similar items let you push your look further.
In shortThere is no story to complete; you and other players make the story yourselves.
Gakuran has no main quest or progress bar to fill. The point is to inhabit the school setting and build scenes with whoever is around. You can form groups, claim a favorite spot in the courtyard or library, or join a roleplay that someone else has already started. The game's description notes that while a quiet slice-of-life experience was the intent, the community tends to take things in its own direction.
Solo play exploring the campus and adjusting your character's appearance works fine on your own.
Group play interacting with other players is the core of what the game is designed around.
Player-run events groups can create their own scenarios and invite others to join.

In shortRespecting other players' scenes keeps the server enjoyable for everyone.
Because there are no game-enforced rules about who can join a scene, players rely on each other to behave reasonably. If another player does something that makes you uncomfortable, the report function is there to use. Never share personal information such as your real name, address, or contact details inside the game, and do not follow links that ask you to move to an outside chat service.
Worth watching out for
Do not interrupt a scene already in progress without getting the other players' agreement first.
Avoid words or actions that are meant to hurt or demean another player's character or the player themselves.
Keep personal information off the chat entirely.
Ignore anyone who tries to move the conversation to an app or site outside Roblox.

Posture, blocking, and parrying
Tips
In shortManaging your posture bar matters as much as landing hits.
Posture is the stamina system that lets you sprint and block. Sprinting and blocking both drain it. Running out puts you at risk of a block break, which stuns you when the next hit lands. A parry costs no posture and lets you take no damage. Even a successful block still lets some damage through, because every style in the game has some level of block pierce.
Tips worth knowing
Never hold block on zero posture — you will be stunned the moment you get hit.
Parrying costs no posture and the user takes no damage.
Karate's Swift Recovery perk gives a 15% natural posture regen boost, and its Steady Nerves perk adds another 25% regen for three seconds after a parry. Karate's Balanced Strike gives 25% posture back on a successful M2.
Basic's Swift Recovery perk grants the same 15% natural posture regeneration as Karate.
Muay Thai deals 15% extra posture drain to opponents who are holding block.
Slugger and Wrestling have large amounts of block pierce.
In shortGrapples protect you from third-party damage, so they can save you when multiple people are fighting at once.
When two players throw a light attack at the same moment, there is a chance they enter a grapple instead of both taking hits. A short animation plays while both players are completely immune to damage from anyone else. When the animation ends, the player who attacked first shoves the other back and deals 50% less damage than a normal hit. The chance of a grapple starting depends on the Resilience stat built into each player's style.
High Resilience styles Slugger and Wrestling can trigger grapples very often.
Low Resilience styles Boxing cannot start a grapple on its own; the other player's style has to carry enough Resilience.
Grapple immunity both players are safe from outside attackers during the animation.
Damage on exit the player who attacked first deals the shove hit, but at half normal damage.
