First steps when you join a match

Step
In short Your first few matches are for learning the rhythm of the game, not racking up kills.

When you jump into a match for the first time, focus on watching how explosives and firearms are being used rather than rushing the enemy. Getting comfortable with moving, aiming, and throwing explosives will pay off more than any early kill. Sticking close to teammates is the fastest way to pick up on where enemies hide and when to push.

  1. Join a match drop in and watch how the round unfolds before committing to a fight.
  2. Practice aiming get a feel for how your firearm handles before relying on it under pressure.
  3. Try an explosive throw one at a block and see how it breaks cover, then notice any damage it deals to enemies nearby.
  4. Follow a teammate let them lead so you can see how experienced players choose their positions.

How explosives and firearms work together

Table
In short Explosives open up the fight; firearms close it out.

The two weapon types have different jobs. An enemy hiding behind a block is nearly untouchable by gunfire alone, but an explosive can destroy that cover and leave them with nowhere to go. Once they are out in the open, switching to your firearm and firing quickly is the most reliable way to finish the fight.

Explosivesbest when enemies are behind blocks; destroy cover and deal damage at the same time.
Firearmsbest after cover is gone; switch to one the moment an enemy is exposed.
03

Shooting accurately under pressure

Tips
In short A brief pause before firing is more effective than spraying bullets while moving.

The moment after an explosive destroys enemy cover is your biggest window, so be ready to fire before that moment arrives.

Tips worth knowing
  • Stop moving for a moment before shooting — your accuracy is better when you are still.
  • Time your shots for right after an explosive goes off, while the enemy is still adjusting.
  • When a teammate is already shooting at someone, add your fire to theirs — two guns bring enemies down faster.
  • For distant enemies, concentrate your shooting on them.
04

Team coordination in a 5v5 match

Summary
In short Individual skill matters less than working together to attack from more than one direction.

A 5v5 match is won or lost on teamwork. One useful split is having some players handle explosive throws while others keep their firearms ready for the moment cover breaks. Attacking from two directions at once puts enemies in a position where they cannot protect themselves from both sides. Avoid pushing into enemy territory alone — a solo player draws concentrated fire from multiple opponents.

  • Explosive role throw at enemy cover to force opponents into the open.
  • Firearm role hold your fire and be ready to shoot the instant cover is destroyed.
  • Two-direction attack split with a teammate so enemies must choose which threat to face.
05

Items on the map

Check
In short Grabbing map items before the enemy team does gives your whole team a meaningful edge.

Firearms and explosives are placed around the map during a match. Explosives handle both cover destruction and enemy damage. Learning where items tend to appear lets you move toward them before opponents do.

  • Check whether you know the spawn locations for explosives on the current map.
  • Move toward items early in a round so the enemy team does not reach them first.
06

When you keep dying — things to check

Warn
In short Most losing streaks trace back to one of three fixable habits.

If the same situation is killing you repeatedly, the pattern usually points to one of a handful of mistakes.

Worth watching out for
You are pushing alone if no teammates are near you when you die, pull back and regroup.
You are throwing explosives at empty cover make sure enemies are actually behind a block before you waste the throw.
You are getting killed from the same spot repeatedly change your approach route rather than repeating the same path.
You are getting caught reloading notice when your firearm runs low so you can reload behind cover instead of in the open.
07

Beta bugs and reporting

Tips
In short The game is still in beta, so reporting bugs helps every player.

Bonk & Block is currently in beta. If something clearly is not working — an explosive that does not react, a firearm that will not fire, or collision that feels wrong — reporting it is the right call.

Tips worth knowing
  • Report bugs through the official channel rather than assuming the issue is on your end.
  • Before reporting, confirm you are seeing a genuine malfunction and not an unfamiliar game mechanic.

Common questions

FAQ

I can't get any kills. What should I do first?

Spend your first few matches following a teammate and watching how they use explosives and firearms rather than chasing kills yourself. After a few rounds you will start to see where enemies tend to hide and when the right moment to fire actually is.

Should I use an explosive or a firearm first?

If an enemy is behind a block, use an explosive to destroy the cover before reaching for your firearm. If the enemy is already out in the open, go straight to your firearm.

Is it better to stay with the team or push ahead alone?

Stay with the team. Attacking from multiple directions at once puts enemies in an impossible position, while a solo push just concentrates their fire on one target. The 5v5 format rewards coordination above everything else.

Do I need to spend Robux to be competitive?

No. Firearms and explosives are available on the map during matches, so you can pick them up without spending anything.
