Getting started as a Microraptor

Step
In short Eating food orbs is the only thing you need to focus on when you first spawn.

Every new player begins as a Microraptor. Food orbs are placed throughout the map, and eating them is the sole way to earn XP. As XP builds up your dinosaur levels, which opens up evolution choices.

  1. Find food orbs walk around the map and eat every orb you spot to start stacking XP.
  2. Watch your level each level gained brings you closer to an evolution choice.
  3. Manage inventory the game currently has a limited inventory, so drop items you no longer need to keep space open.

The evolution path

Table
In short Each branch of the evolution tree suits a different playstyle.

When your dinosaur levels up enough, the game presents evolution options. Land-focused players can chase a Tyrannosaurus Rex, water-focused players can grow into a Mosasaurus, and the largest goal of all is the Titanosaurus. Different species also come with different special attacks, which affects how you fight.

Fighting other players

Tips
In short Combining your basic bite with your species-specific special attack is the core of every fight.

Combat happens when you meet other players in the open world. You have two attacks at all times. The bite on M1 can be used continuously. The special attack on R is unique to your current dinosaur species and hits much harder.

Tips worth knowing
  • M1 fires your bite attack.
  • R triggers your dinosaur's special attack, which varies by species and deals heavy damage.
05

Exploring the five biomes

Tips
In short Rotating through all five biomes keeps food orbs available and lets you play to your dinosaur's strengths.

The map is divided into five distinct environments, each with its own food orb placements and different dinosaurs to encounter. Aquatic dinosaurs like the Mosasaurus are at their best in the Aquatic biome.

Tips worth knowing
  • Forest
  • Desert
  • Snow
  • Wetlands
  • Aquatic — the home territory for water dinosaurs like the Mosasaurus

Common questions

FAQ

When does my dinosaur evolve?

Evolution becomes available after you level up by earning enough XP from food orbs. Each level gained can bring new evolution choices.

How do I use my special attack?

Press R to fire your dinosaur's special attack. The move is different for every species.

I keep running out of food orbs near me — what should I do?

Move to a different biome. Orbs are distributed across all five environments. Also clear your inventory if it is filling up, since inventory space is limited.

Can I reach the strongest dinosaurs without spending Robux?

Yes. Eating food orbs, leveling up, evolving, and battling other players are all completely free. The entire progression path from Microraptor to Titanosaurus requires no purchase.
