Your first steps after joining
StepWhen you first load in, you have no combat style and no rank. Work through the tutorial to learn the basics, then head to Final Selection to become a Slayer — or take the Evil Path if you want to play as a Demon instead. Choosing one path means you will not progress on the other, so take a moment before you decide.
- Complete the tutorial this earns you the Tutorial badge and teaches the core controls before anything else.
- Learn the default controls R toggles combat, Q dashes, Left Shift sprints, E activates breathing, M opens the menu, and Left Alt locks your mouse.
- Choose your path pass Final Selection to become a Slayer and earn your Nichirin Blade, or follow the Evil Path to become a Demon and gain access to Blood Demon Arts.
- Get your Nichirin Blade sharpened after Final Selection, visit the Blacksmith NPC above the Water Trainer; from Mizukami, take a semi-left turn to find him.
- Use emotes to communicate type :e wave, :e point, :e dance, :e cheer, or :e saluate in chat.

Training Lung Capacity
StepLung Capacity controls how fast your breath bar empties. At 100, the bar refills on its own instead of draining. Gourds are sold at the Butterfly Mansion and you must use them in order — using a gourd above your current level gives zero progress.
- Buy gourds at the Butterfly Mansion the total cost across all three sizes runs to about 16,000 Yen.
- Use small gourds first work with them until your Lung Capacity reaches 10.
- Switch to medium gourds continue until Lung Capacity hits 32.
- Finish with large gourds train up to 100 to unlock the passive bar recovery.
- Hold and click, do not breathe you do not need to hold E while using a gourd; just hold it in your hand and click.
Slayer rank progression
TableEach Slayer rank raises your stat cap, letting you put more points into your build. Contribution comes from nightly quests and defeating Demon bosses. Starting at Kinoto, you also need Merit, which you earn by winning the Faction Event that runs every 20 minutes — each win gives between 10 and 30 Merit.

| Kanoto | 250 Contribution, stat cap 7 |

Boss fights: when to go and what to expect
TipsBosses have large HP pools and hit hard. Party play helps because direct drops go to every damage dealer, though only one player can grab a chest.
- Early targets are Primordial Demon (Motosu Cave, every 3 minutes), Yahaba and Susamaru (Mysterious Mansion, every 4 minutes), and the Hand Demon inside Final Selection.
- Mid-game options include the Abnormal Demon (Narusawa Cave, spawned with a Rusty Key), Spider Mother, Giyuu Tomioka, Zenitsu Agatsuma, Sanemi Shinazugawa, and Shinobu Kocho.
- Late-game bosses — Rui, Nezuko, Swamp Demon, and Kyojuro Rengoku — only spawn at nightfall and disappear at daybreak, so you have at most 20 minutes per night.
- Muichiro Tokito is an exception: he spawns every 3 real-life hours and is only present for 10 minutes, making him extremely time-sensitive.
- Cthulhu appears outside Motosu City near where the river ends, but only when all four Runes have been placed.
- The Mugen Train Raid activates with the train itself; defeat Enmu on top and Akaza at the crash site.
- Build your drop-rate stat before farming — it raises your chances on direct drops and affects chest spawn odds, and when you farm in a party, the chest uses the average drop rate across all damage dealers.
Redeeming codes
CheckCodes hand out reroll potions, stat boosts, and timed bonuses. Type them directly in chat with an exclamation mark in front, or open the menu and use the settings button.
- Join the Hub or a Private Server first old servers sometimes block codes from working.
- Type !codenamehere in chat, replacing codenamehere with the actual code the exclamation mark must be there.
- Alternatively, open the menu with M and find the settings button to enter the code there.

Common questions
FAQShould I be a Slayer or a Demon?
Slayers learn Breathing Styles and rank up through Contribution, while Demons use Blood Demon Arts and follow their own progression track. Finish the tutorial first, then decide based on whether you prefer sword-and-breath combat or demon powers.
How long do I have to beat a night boss?
Most night bosses vanish at daybreak, leaving you a maximum of 20 minutes. Muichiro Tokito is a special case — he spawns once every 3 real-life hours and stays for only 10 minutes, so plan around him specifically.
How do I join the Mugen Train Raid?
The Mugen Train was added in update 4.0.7. Clearing the raid earns you the Mugen Train Raid badge.
