About

Overview

Deep Fishing is a fishing simulator by LazyGames where you cast your rod as far as possible, collect multiple fish in a single cast, and sell them for coins to upgrade your gear. This guide covers how to cast, what to target underwater, how to upgrade wisely, and what the rarity system means for your progress.

How to cast your rod

Step
In short The hold-and-release cast is the foundation of everything else in the game.

Casting works by holding down the throw input to build up the power gauge, then releasing to send the rod flying. Your hook has to reach the water before fishing actually begins, so if it keeps landing short, your first fix is to make sure you are holding long enough before you let go.

  1. Hold the throw input keep it held down and watch the power gauge climb.
  2. Release at the right moment let go once the gauge is high enough to reach the water.
  3. Wait for the hook to land fishing only starts after the hook hits the water, so do not release too early.
  4. Collect your fish guide the hook toward fish and fill your catch limit before reeling back.

What to target underwater

Tips
In short Prioritise the highest-value fish within comfortable reach rather than chasing a single distant catch.

Once your hook is in the water, each fish shows its sell value, so you can make quick decisions about which ones to go for. Your hook has a catch limit shown as a count — for example 0/4 — so the closer you are to that cap, the more selective you should be.

Tips worth knowing
  • Check the sell value displayed next to each fish before committing your hook's path.
  • Watch the catch counter on your hook and get picky as you approach the limit.
  • Take a reliable nearby catch over an uncertain long-distance one.
03

Selling fish and managing coins

Check
In short Always sell before shopping, and double-check whether a price is in coins or Robux.

Carrying fish and having spendable coins are two separate things — you only convert fish into coins at the SELL area. Head there after each trip, use Sell All Fish, and confirm the action. Once you have coins, check whether the rod or upgrade you want costs coins or Robux, since both buttons can appear side by side and the number alone does not tell you which currency is required.

  • Walk to the SELL area after every fishing trip.
  • Check whether you want to keep any fish before tapping Sell All Fish.
  • Confirm the sale action to complete it.
  • Look at your coin balance after selling to see what you can afford.
  • Before buying anything, identify the currency symbol coin purchases and Robux purchases can sit right next to each other.
  • Discuss any Robux purchase with a parent or guardian before confirming.
04

Upgrade priority

Table
In short Match each upgrade to the specific problem you are running into, rather than buying randomly.

The upgrade menu has four options. After any upgrade, throw from the same spot a few times to see whether the problem actually improved before spending more coins.

Strengthincreases how far you can throw; buy this when your cast keeps falling short of the water or the next area.
Weightlets the hook reach deeper spots.
Bounceadds extra distance, pushing the hook further.
Capacityraises how many fish you can collect in one cast; buy this when you keep hitting the catch limit early.
05

Choosing a rod in the RODS shop

Tips
In short Always confirm the Equipped status after buying a new rod, or it will not actually be in use.

The RODS shop lets you compare each rod's Luck and Strength values before you buy. After purchasing, look for an Equipped label on the rod — Owned just means you have bought it, not that you are using it.

Tips worth knowing
  • Compare Luck and Strength on the new rod against your current one before spending coins.
  • Check that the rod shows Equipped after the purchase, not just Owned.
  • Treat the currency symbol as more important than the number when comparing prices.
06

Fish rarity and mutations

Summary
In short Rarity and Mutation are separate labels that can appear on the same fish at the same time.

Fish in Deep Fishing have a rarity tier, and separately some fish carry a Mutation. When you see two labels on one fish — for example EPIC and GOLD — EPIC is the rarity and GOLD is the Mutation type. They are independent pieces of information.

Legendary a high-tier rare fish; the first major rarity milestone to aim for.
Mythical rarer than Legendary.
Secret rarer still, a special category of fish.
Mutated Fish a separate classification from rarity; a fish can be both a high rarity and Mutated at once.
07

Catch-count badges

Summary
In short Every badge unlocks automatically once your total catch count hits the matching number — there is nothing to activate.

Deep Fishing awards badges at cumulative catch milestones.

50 Catches first milestone badge.
250 Catches second milestone.
1,000 Catches third milestone.
10,000 Catches mid-range grind target.
50,000 / 100,000 / 250,000 / 500,000 Catches long-term goals for dedicated players.
08

Gift codes

Warn
In short Codes expire and can only be used once per account, so redeem them as soon as you find them.

There is a dedicated code input field inside the game. Enter codes exactly as shown — capitalisation matters. A code that has already been used on your account or has passed its expiry date will not work.

Worth watching out for
Entering a code in the wrong case will cause it to fail copy it carefully.

Common questions

FAQ

Why does my cast keep landing short of the water?

Hold the throw input for longer to let the power gauge build higher before releasing. If you are already holding long enough, upgrading Strength in the upgrade menu will extend your throw distance.

How do I catch Legendary, Mythical, or Secret fish?

Rarer fish appear in more distant or deeper water, so you need enough throw distance to reach those areas. Upgrade Strength and Bounce to push your cast further.

What does it mean when a fish shows two labels at once?

One label is the fish's rarity tier (such as EPIC) and the other is its Mutation type (such as GOLD). Rarity and Mutation are separate systems, so both can apply to the same fish simultaneously.

I bought a new rod but nothing changed — why?

Buying a rod only adds it to your inventory. You also need to equip it, which shows an Equipped label on the rod. If it still says Owned, select it and equip it before casting.

How do gift codes work?

Open the code input field inside the game and type the code exactly, matching upper and lower case. Each code works once per account and has an expiry date, so use any code you find as soon as possible.
