The one goal and how to reach it

Summary
In short Everything you do in this game points toward getting the boulder to the mountain summit.

There is only one objective: push the boulder from the base of the mountain to the top. The boulder is heavy, so progress feels slow at first — but every push counts.

  • Objective push the boulder all the way to the mountain summit
  • Player count one to four players in the same session
  • Solo vs. group solo is possible, but more players move the boulder more easily
  • Winning reaching the top is the only finish line

Getting the boulder moving

Step
In short Position matters before you push — getting everyone on the same side from the start saves a lot of wasted effort.

The first thing to sort out when the game starts is where everyone stands. A scattered group pushes the boulder in conflicting directions and makes almost no progress.

  1. Get behind the boulder move to the back side of the boulder before you do anything else.
  2. Group up if you are playing with friends, everyone needs to gather on the same side.
  3. Push together once the whole group is lined up, push at the same time so the boulder moves cleanly forward.
  4. Stay on the same side if the group splits, the boulder drifts or stalls, so keep everyone coordinated.
03

Hazards along the mountain path

Warn
In short Falling with the boulder sends you back to your last checkpoint, so keeping an eye on the terrain is just as important as pushing.

The mountain path has drops, gaps, and obstacles that can knock the boulder — and you — off course. If you fall with the boulder, you are sent back to the last checkpoint you passed.

Worth watching out for
Watch for cliffs and holes falling into them resets your progress to the last checkpoint.
Adjust direction constantly obstacles can send the boulder off to one side, so steer it back before it picks up momentum the wrong way.
04

Checkpoints and recovery

Tips
In short Checkpoints turn a painful fall into a short setback rather than starting over.

Checkpoints are placed at several spots along the mountain. Passing through one updates your respawn location, so a fall after that point only sends you back as far as that checkpoint.

Tips worth knowing
  • Reaching a checkpoint sets it as your new respawn point for the rest of the run.
  • You can retry as many times as you need — there is no penalty for falling other than losing a bit of ground.
05

Coins and boulder skins

Tips
In short Coins are a free way to personalize your boulder, but you never need them to finish the game.

Coins are scattered along the path as you push the boulder up the mountain. Collect enough of them and you can spend them on skins that change how the boulder looks.

Tips worth knowing
  • Coins are found on the path during a normal run.
  • Skins are purely cosmetic and change only the boulder's appearance.
  • Buying a skin has no effect on how fast or easy it is to push the boulder.

Glossary

Glossary
Checkpoint
A marked spot on the mountain path that, once you pass through it, becomes the point you return to if you fall.
Skin
A cosmetic item bought with in-game coins that changes the visual appearance of the boulder without affecting gameplay.
Boulder
The giant rock you and your teammates push up the mountain — the central object of the entire game.

Common questions

FAQ

What happens when I fall?

You respawn at the last checkpoint you passed through. You can try again immediately, so falling is a setback rather than a reset of the whole run.

Do I need to buy skins to beat the game?

No. Skins only change how the boulder looks and have no effect on gameplay. You can reach the summit without spending a single coin on them.

How do we avoid pushing the boulder the wrong way when there are four of us?

Before you hit a narrow or tricky section, agree with your group on which direction to go. When everyone pushes the same way, the boulder moves cleanly instead of swinging side to side.
