Getting started on your first round

Step
In short Your first round is a chance to learn the map and get comfortable with building.

When the game starts, you are placed in an area where you can build freely. Before you place anything, walk around and figure out which directions the hands will come from. The first stage is a practice round, so use it to try the building menu.

  1. Scout the map walk around the starting area and spot every direction enemies can approach from.
  2. Open the build menu try placing walls and towers to see what is available from the start.
  3. Check your resources look at how much material you have been given before spending any of it.
  4. Block the paths place walls across the most obvious enemy routes to limit where hands can reach you.

Smart base design

Tips
In short Funneling enemies into tight corridors and concentrating your towers there is the core of a strong defense.

No base will stop every enemy forever, so you need to be deliberate about where you build. Focus your defenses on the routes enemies actually use rather than spreading structures everywhere. Between waves, check for damage and repair the most critical sections first.

Tips worth knowing
  • Design narrow chokepoints so enemies are forced into a single path instead of spreading out.
  • Cluster towers at those chokepoints so multiple towers fire at the same target at once.
  • Early walls that break easily are still useful — just factor in the resource cost of rebuilding them.
  • After every wave, walk your perimeter and repair damaged sections before the next wave begins.

Gaps and resource mistakes that end runs

Warn
In short A single unchecked gap or an empty resource stockpile late in the game are the two most common reasons players lose.

Even a small opening in your walls gives hands a clear path straight to you. After finishing any construction, walk the full perimeter and confirm there are no gaps. Spending everything you have in the early waves leaves you with nothing to build or repair when the hardest waves arrive.

Worth watching out for
Never leave a gap in your walls, even a small one enemies will find it and pour through.
Think carefully before placing a tower, because you may not be able to move it after it is down.
Do not pour all your resources into building fast early on, or you will have nothing left for the tough later waves.
If walls break mid-wave, mark the spot mentally and repair it the moment the wave ends do not wait.
04

Crafting and resource management between waves

Check
In short Spend the time between waves planning what to craft first, always prioritizing whatever directly protects your base.

Each gap between waves is your window to craft and collect resources. The time is limited, so decide quickly what the next wave demands and work toward that.

  • Look at what the next wave brings and decide whether you need new defensive items before it starts.
  • Compare how long a craft takes against how much time remains before the wave do not start something you cannot finish.
  • Count how many resources the next round of building and repairs will need before you spend anything on extras.
  • When several things need crafting, start with the item that most directly protects your base.
