Getting started
Step
In short
Pick a character, then head out and explore.
When you first load in, a character selection screen appears before anything else. Each character has a different role and abilities, and changing your pick later may not always be straightforward. Your first few minutes on the map are best spent walking around to get a feel for the layout and spotting other players.

Choosing your character

The game is built around becoming your chosen character and playing out scenes with others, not just fighting. Battle is part of it too, but roleplay is the core. Different areas of the map let different groups run their own scenes at the same time.
