How the two roles work
TableThe Instructor thinks of something and keeps it secret. The Guesser then fires off questions one by one, and the Instructor can only respond with one of three buttons: Yes, No, or Maybe. The Instructor cannot type freely or give any extra hints.
| Guesser (Penebak) | asks questions and tries to identify what the Instructor has in mind |
| Instructor (Instruktur) | picks something secret and answers every question with only Yes, No, or Maybe |
| Maybe (Bisa Jadi) | the middle answer, used when the truth is somewhere between yes and no |
| Free typing | not available to the Instructor at any point |

Winning as the Guesser
StepPay close attention to every Maybe, because that answer carries hidden information about how the Instructor sees their own choice.
- Open with categories ask whether it is a living thing, whether it exists in real life, or whether it is a person to cut possibilities in half immediately
- Check for patterns if an answer feels like it contradicts an earlier one, ask a follow-up that exposes the contradiction
Making it harder as the Instructor
TipsPicking something abstract, something whose definition shifts depending on who you ask, or something that sits on the border between two categories keeps the Guesser guessing for much longer.
- Pick abstract targets — concepts or things whose definition varies between people give you more chances to answer Maybe
- Use Maybe as a tactic — answering Maybe on questions where a Guesser expects a clear Yes or No opens up several possibilities at once
- Avoid obvious crowd-pleasers — popular, instantly recognisable answers get guessed quickly
Playing with a group
CheckTebak Yuk! works well with more than two players. Rotating who takes each role means everyone gets to practise both sides of the game. The rules are simple enough to explain in under a minute, so new players can jump straight in.
- Rotate roles each round so every player experiences both guessing and answering
- Play enough rounds against the same person and you will start to notice how they use Maybe

Common questions
FAQCan the Instructor make up answers as they go instead of committing to something at the start?
Playing that way breaks the game, because making up answers as you go almost always leads to contradictions that a careful Guesser will catch. Keeping answers consistent is what makes the game fair and fun for both sides.
Is it okay to ask the same question twice?
Asking a question a second time can be a deliberate tactic to check whether the Instructor's answer stays the same. If the answer changes, you have found a contradiction worth exploring.
Do you need to spend anything to play?
The core game has no payment requirement — you just join, pick a role, and start playing.
