Getting started — chapters and classes

Step
In short Play through chapters in order and pick a class early, since leveling it up is a major long-term goal.

The game is split into chapters you unlock in sequence, starting at Chapter 1. Each chapter ends when you defeat its final boss, and completing it earns a badge. At the same time, you build up one of four classes — Crusher, Slicer, Piercer, or Baller — and each class has its own level that climbs independently.

  1. Start at Chapter 1 it is the tutorial chapter and has six bosses to ease you in before harder chapters.
  2. Defeat the final boss each chapter's last boss must go down to earn the chapter-clear badge and move on.
  3. Pick your class Crusher uses hammers, Slicer uses swords, Piercer uses bows, and Baller uses balls.
  4. Watch your class level milestones at levels 25, 50, 75, and 100 each award a badge.
  5. Aim for Chapter 7 that is the last chapter with a completion badge.

Chapter 1 — the six bosses you face first

Summary
In short Chapter 1 is a tutorial in practice, so use it to learn how movement and attacks interact before the difficulty spikes.

Chapter 1, called The Simple, introduces you to the game with six bosses in a row. The first five are mini-bosses; the sixth, Frezaar, is the chapter's final boss. Lord of the Shadows is the first of them and behaves much like a tougher version of regular enemies — keep your distance from his sword and deal damage steadily.

  • Lord of the Shadows first boss, 1,000 health, attacks with a sword; any class can handle him with basic movement.
  • Reflectar second mini-boss in the sequence.
  • Origin Zombie third mini-boss.
  • Energon fourth mini-boss.
  • Noob King fifth mini-boss.
  • Frezaar chapter final boss; defeat him to earn The Simple badge.

Dodging boss attacks — difficulty levels explained

Tips
In short Knowing which attack type is coming tells you how urgently you need to move.

Bosses in BFS use a range of special attacks, and not every one requires the same reaction. Shockwaves are the easiest attack category to avoid. Homing attacks are the hardest category in the game.

Tips worth knowing
  • Shockwaves are the easiest attack to dodge.
  • Homing attacks are the hardest in the game.
  • Bunny-hopping is strongly recommended when you face attacks rated as Hard difficulty.
  • For attacks rated Serious, accepting the hit is sometimes the only realistic option.
05

Key boss strategies — Chapters 2 through 6

Check
In short Each major boss has one or two attack patterns that decide the fight, so learn those first and everything else becomes manageable.

From Chapter 2 onward, bosses carry multiple special attacks and much higher health pools. The notes below highlight the one or two mechanics that will kill you if you ignore them.

  • Defender (Chapter 2, 20,000 health) when he calls out his boulder attack, run sideways toward the castle walls perpendicular to the entrance; as a melee class, stop attacking and move immediately.
  • McSlash (Chapter 2 final, 42,000 health) his sword throws travel fast and deal heavy damage, but he only throws in the direction he faces; use a stun myst to freeze his aim and make the throws harmless.
  • Azuran / Azurewrath (Chapter 3) when you see the shockwave cue appear, either jump over it or get far away; Azurewrath sends multiple shockwaves, making jumping riskier than running.
  • Azurewrath energy discs they fire in the direction he faces and can hit you from behind him; strafe around him or stun him to neutralize them.
  • Aqua (Chapter 4 final) his Barrage is almost instant-kill; strafe continuously in one direction around him and never stop or reverse, not even for a moment.
  • Arcane Warlock (Chapter 6 first boss, 350,000 health) his spam-heal is the real danger; melee classes, especially Crusher, can outdamage his heals, while ranged classes struggle to keep up.
06

Chapter 6 duo fight — Arcane Warlock and Dezadon together

Tips
In short Keeping these two bosses apart is the single most important thing you can do in this fight.

After you defeat Dezadon, Baller summons both bosses simultaneously. Their attacks overlap badly when they are close together, making the fight nearly impossible if you let them stack. Split your team's attention based on which classes you have.

Tips worth knowing
  • Always keep the two bosses separated — overlapping attacks from both at once is nearly unwinnable.
  • Ranged-heavy team — focus Dezadon first; assign one player to draw Arcane away from the group while the rest burn Dezadon down.
  • Melee-heavy team — focus Arcane first, since losing players to Dezadon early makes killing Arcane later very hard; use an ice or stun myst to keep Dezadon occupied.
  • Solo ranged — watch for Arcane's Psystrike and Shockwave while you DPS Dezadon; those two attacks are the main threat to you.
  • Solo melee — keep Dezadon in your vision the entire fight, listen for his Giga Impact audio cue, and dodge his sawblades when you can.
07

Leveling all four classes to 100

Warn
In short Maxing every class is the game's biggest long-term goal, and it requires deliberate effort across all four.

Each class — Crusher, Slicer, Piercer, and Baller — has its own level track with badges at 25, 50, 75, and 100. Reaching level 100 on all four unlocks the Master badge.

Worth watching out for
Baller's weapon upgrades span fifteen tiers from Starterball up through Rain Ball.
You will not earn The Master badge until all four classes individually hit level 100 partial completion does not count.
08

Things to know before you get deep into the game

Check
In short A few practical facts about the game's current state will save you frustration.

The game is currently in version 1.75 and the developers describe it as very unfinished, with a full remake called BFS 2.0 planned for the future.

  • Bugs are expected the developers say so openly; if something breaks, relog before assuming it is a permanent problem.
  • BFS 2.0 is a planned remake the current version is not the developers' final vision.

Common questions

FAQ

Which chapter should I start with?

Always start with Chapter 1, The Simple. It is designed as a tutorial and walks you through the basics with six bosses before the difficulty increases.

What is the biggest long-term goal in the game?

There are two: completing all seven chapters, and leveling every class — Crusher, Slicer, Piercer, and Baller — to 100. Doing both earns you a full set of badges, capped by The Master badge for maxing all classes.

Why does Arcane Warlock feel impossible as a ranged class?

His spam-heal can undo huge amounts of damage in seconds, and ranged classes do not deal enough damage per second to consistently outpace it. Melee classes, particularly Crusher, can do enough damage to override his healing.

How do I survive Aqua's Barrage?

Strafe continuously in one direction around Aqua and do not stop or change direction at any point while the Barrage is active. Even a brief pause or reversal is enough to get hit, and the bullets are instant-kill.
