Controls for every platform

Table

In short Check your platform's controls before you start so the scary moments don't catch you off guard on top of fumbling for buttons.

There are four actions you need to know: sprinting, firing your left hand, firing your right hand, and interacting with objects and puzzles.

How the chapters work

Step

In short Play through the three chapters in order and you will earn a completion badge for each one.

The game is split into three chapters, and you earn a badge each time you finish one.

Chapter 1 complete it to earn the Completed Chapter 1 badge.
Chapter 2 complete it to earn the Completed Chapter 2 badge; this chapter also holds all the collectibles.
Chapter 3 complete it to earn the Completed Chapter 3 badge.

In short There are collectibles hidden in Chapter 2, and finding each one earns its own badge.

All collectibles are inside Chapter 2 — none are in Chapter 1 or Chapter 3.

Mommy Collectible find it to earn the Mommy Collectible badge.
Barry Collectible find it to earn the Barry Collectible badge.
Green Hand Collectible find it to earn the Green Hand Collectible badge.

Special and limited badges

Tips

In short Three badges sit outside normal gameplay and require specific timing or a lot of luck.

These badges cannot be picked up just by playing through chapters, so it helps to know what each one actually requires.

Tips worth knowing

The Halloween Event badge is only available during the Halloween event — you cannot get it outside that window.
The Christmas Event badge is only available during the Christmas event — the same time restriction applies.
The ??? badge has a 5% chance of appearing.
The Meet a Developer badge requires a developer from the team to be in the same server as you at that moment, so it comes down to timing.

Interact: Pressing the interact button (E on PC, X on Xbox, □ on PlayStation) to trigger objects and puzzles in the world.
Collectible: A hidden item found inside Chapter 2; picking one up earns you its matching badge.
Secret badge (???): A badge with a 5% chance of appearing whose unlock condition has not been made public by the developers.

Where are the collectibles?

Every collectible is inside Chapter 2. Chapter 1 and Chapter 3 have no collectibles to find.

Can I get the event badges any time?

No — the Halloween Event badge is only available during the Halloween event, and the Christmas Event badge is only available during the Christmas event. If the event is not running, those badges are out of reach.

How do I get the ??? badge?

It has a 5% chance of appearing. Beyond that, the developers have not published the unlock conditions.

How do I get the Meet a Developer badge?

A developer from the team needs to be in the same server as you at the same time.
