Basic controls
Check
Every action in Rost Alpha runs through four keys.
- Crouch press Ctrl or C to lower your profile
- Run hold Shift to move faster
- Craft press Q to open the crafting screen
- Inventory press Tab to check and sort what you are carrying
The weekly server wipe
Warn
The wipe clears the entire game world on a fixed schedule. Resources you gathered and structures you built are all gone when it fires. Every player starts from scratch at the same moment.
Gather, craft, build — the core loop
Step
Rost Alpha revolves around three repeating actions. Each one feeds into the next.
- Gather materials collect stone, wood, metal, and other resources from the area around you
- Open the craft screen press Q and turn raw materials into tools, weapons, or building parts
- Manage your inventory press Tab regularly to stay organised and know what you still need
- Place building parts use crafted pieces to put your base together and keep expanding it
Sharing a server with 49 other players
Tips
Up to 50 players are active on the same server at any time. That makes cooperation and conflict both very real.
- Talk to teammates before a session so everyone knows their role
- If you team up, pooling resources lets you build faster and bigger than any solo player can

Glossary- Server wipe
- A full reset of the game world that happens every Friday at 12 PM Eastern Time, clearing all resources, structures, and progress.
- Crafting
- The process of turning gathered raw materials into tools, weapons, or building parts using the Q menu.
- Inventory
- The screen you open with Tab to see, organise, and manage everything you are carrying.
- Base
- The structure you build from crafted parts to store resources and establish a foothold on the server.
