About

Overview

Boogieman is a horror multiplayer game where survivors try to escape a terrifying monster while the Boogieman hunts them all down. Each room holds up to 30 players, and the game runs on PC, phones, tablets, and consoles. This guide covers both roles, special positions, and how to unlock every badge.

Two roles and how to win

Table
In short Your entire strategy depends on which role you are playing, so understand both before you start.

Every round splits players into survivors and the Boogieman. Survivors win by opening an escape route and getting out alive. The Boogieman wins by making sure nobody escapes.

Survivor basics

Tips
In short Hiding, helping teammates, and opening the escape route are the three things every survivor needs to do.

As a survivor you are always balancing three priorities: staying out of the Boogieman's reach, helping downed teammates, and securing a way out.

Tips worth knowing
  • Stay hidden when the Boogieman is nearby and wait until they fully move on before leaving your spot.
  • If the Boogieman grabs you, struggle free — breaking loose five times in total earns the Breakout badge.
  • Help downed teammates get back up; rescuing ten residents total earns the Neighborhood Watch badge.
  • Find and open an escape route yourself, then use it — that is the requirement for the Escape Artist badge.
  • Avoid taking any damage across a full round to earn Not a Scratch.
  • Even after being knocked out you can still call for backup on a radio, which counts toward the Backup's Here! badge.
03

Special survivor roles

Tips
In short The sheriff and the special-target roles add extra responsibilities that can turn the round in the survivors' favor.

Not every survivor plays exactly the same way. Some rounds assign players unique positions that come with abilities or responsibilities beyond simply hiding and escaping.

Tips worth knowing
  • Sheriff — If you are the sheriff, you have the ability to detain the Boogieman; doing so earns the Long Arm of the Law badge.
  • Special target — Certain players are designated special targets; protecting one of them three times across your play history earns the Bodyguard badge.
  • Knocked-out players — Being downed does not end your contribution; use the radio to call for backup and work toward the Backup's Here! badge.

Playing as the Boogieman

Tips
In short Letting even one survivor escape costs you the best rewards, so track everyone and build Bloodthirst as you hunt.

The Boogieman's goal is total elimination. Winning a round earns the Bloodhour badge, but winning without letting a single person escape earns the harder Lights Out badge on top of it. There is also a Bloodthirst tier system; reaching Tier III unlocks the Unstoppable badge.

Tips worth knowing
  • Winning any round as the Boogieman counts toward the Bloodhour badge.
  • To earn Lights Out, end the round with zero survivors having escaped.
  • Push your Bloodthirst to Tier III across your rounds to unlock the Unstoppable badge.
05

Badges that unlock over time

Summary
In short Two badges require nothing except showing up and playing regularly.

Most badges demand specific actions in a round, but Regular and Night Owl accumulate automatically as you play.

  • Regular complete 50 matches
  • Night Owl reach 10 hours of total playtime
  • BETA awarded only to players who joined during the beta period and cannot be earned now
