Your first steps in Lumberland

Step
In short Get an axe first, then start chopping — everything else follows from wood.

You cannot do anything useful without an axe. If you do not already have one, head to Wood R Us and buy one there. Once you have it, find any tree and left-click, tap, or press the right trigger on it to start chopping. After enough hits the tree falls, and you can drag it wherever you need it to go.

  1. Buy an axe visit Wood R Us if you do not start with one.
  2. Find a tree and chop until it falls keep hitting the trunk until the tree topples.
  3. Drag the log pull the fallen tree toward the Wood Dropoff or your plot.
  4. Drop it off place wood in the Wood Dropoff to turn it into cash.

Turning wood into money

Tips
In short Processing logs into planks before selling always earns you more than selling raw logs.

There are two ways to cash in on a tree you have cut down. You can drop it straight into the Wood Dropoff as a raw log, or you can run it through a Sawmill first to turn it into planks. Planks sell for more than unprocessed logs. Wood R Us sells several Sawmill models — the Shabby Sawmill handles starter woods like Oak and Cherry, while heavier models such as the Sawmax 02L are built for denser woods like Cavecrawler Wood or Volcano Wood.

Tips worth knowing
  • Planks sell for more than raw logs — process logs before selling when you have the equipment.
  • The Shabby Sawmill handles starter woods like Oak and Cherry.
  • The Sawmax 02L is built for thicker woods like Cavecrawler Wood or Volcano Wood.
  • Drop processed planks, not raw logs, into the Wood Dropoff.
03

Getting a plot of land

Check
In short A plot of land is what lets you place Sawmills and other items, so buy one as soon as you can afford it.

Without a plot, you cannot place a Sawmill or any Logic items. To get one, enter the Land Store and talk to Ruhven. He will sell you your first plot, and you can return to him later to expand it — though each expansion costs progressively more.

  • Locate the Land Store and find Ruhven inside.
  • Confirm the purchase when prompted to claim your plot.
  • Return to Ruhven whenever you need more space and can afford to expand.
04

Farming Frost Wood for serious cash

Step
In short Frost Wood is one of the most valuable woods you can farm without trading, but reaching it takes a little preparation.

Frost Wood grows on top of Taiga Peak and is the second most valuable wood in the game per sawmilled unit. Boulders block the entrance, so you need Dynamite from Bob's Shack to clear them before you can get in. Any axe will work once you are inside, though the Frost Axe is the best choice for the job.

  1. Buy Dynamite pick it up from Bob's Shack before heading to Taiga Peak.
  2. Unbox next to the boulders place the Dynamite right beside them.
  3. Trigger the blast press E while your cursor is on the Dynamite and wait five seconds.
  4. Wait for the boulders to clear they fade and despawn a few seconds after the explosion.
  5. Find the Taiga Mountain Passage it is the ramp at the back of the Taiga that leads up.
  6. Cut and haul chop Frost Trees at the top and slide logs back down the slope to transport them.

Why should I bother sawmilling instead of just dropping logs straight into the Wood Dropoff?

Can I play on mobile?

Yes — you can chop trees by tapping on them the same way you would click on a computer.
