First steps after spawning

Step
In short Scouting for materials and picking a build spot right away saves you from scrambling later.

Wood and stone are scattered around the environment and are your two most important resources early on.

  1. Scout the area walk a short loop to see where wood and stone are concentrated.
  2. Collect wood you will need it for shelter walls, the roof, and fuel for your fire.
  3. Collect stone you will need it for the fire pit and structural pieces.
  4. Pick a build site.
  5. Start building immediately.

Shelter construction basics

Check
In short A closed shelter with a fire inside is the single most important thing you can build.

Being inside a shelter reduces cold damage, and the more walls and roof you add the warmer it stays. Gaps in the walls or a missing roof will let the cold in. You are still taking damage while you build, so work quickly.

  • Four wooden walls are standing to form a basic box.
  • A roof is in place to block wind and weather.
  • A fire pit is set up inside the shelter.
  • A door or opening gives you a way in and out.
  • No obvious gaps are visible in the walls or roof.
03

Fire management and fuel supply

Warn
In short If your fire goes out, cold damage accelerates fast.

The fire inside your shelter burns through fuel continuously. Once it dies, the temperature inside drops toward the same level as outdoors.

Worth watching out for
Store enough wood inside the shelter to cover several days.
Run a gathering trip every morning or midday.
04

Fishing for food

Tips
In short Fishing is a reliable food source.

Frozen lakes and rivers are the fishing spots. Craft a fishing rod from the materials you collect and head to the water once your shelter is warm and stocked with fuel.

Tips worth knowing
  • Gather the crafting materials for a fishing rod during your early resource runs.
  • Head to a frozen lake or river to fish once your base situation is stable.
05

Surviving the cold outside

Step
In short Cold damage builds steadily the longer you stay in the open, and nights hit harder than daytime.

Finish all outdoor tasks before evening, then stay inside until morning. If your health starts dropping on a trip, head back right away.

  1. Go out during the day.
  2. Watch your health turn back the moment you notice it falling.
  3. Be indoors by nightfall.
06

Troubleshooting a run that has gone wrong

Summary
In short Continuous health loss almost always traces back to a dead fire or a shelter with gaps — check those two things first.

A dead fire and a leaky shelter account for most situations where health keeps draining even while you are indoors.

  • Fire status burning with fuel, or out entirely
  • Shelter integrity walls and roof solid, no visible gaps
  • Alpha bugs if nothing above explains it, restart the session
